Re: Maryland NHSD in Savage
It's still a ways off so I'm not sure of our availability. Things look ok for most of the month at this point. Allthough I'd probably steer clear of the 6th. (Xanth's b-day weekend) It's not a deal breaker for us though, Xanth would probably want to spend his birthday playing Heroscape!
As for the format, Multi-player would be cool. Perhaps a "Master of Formats" type deal. One army, 5 different formats. I went to one like that before, it was pretty cool. EDIT: Melee only could be fun too. You see a bunch of different figures. 73 tournaments. 175 - 145 - 1 overall record. 6 tournament wins. Last edited by clancampbell; August 12th, 2012 at 11:14 AM. |

Re: Maryland NHSD in Savage
I'm home and all fired up to play more Heroscape!
October 6 is my daughter's birthday, and the 21st is my wife's birthday, so I wouldn't be able to play on either of those week-ends. I could probably make it for the 13th or the 27th, given enough lead time. |

Re: Maryland NHSD in Savage
It's actually looking like we might have to push into the 1st or 2d weekend of November, now that I've spoken with the shop and reviewed my calendar.
I hate to wait this long... |

Re: Maryland NHSD in Savage
The 20th or the 27th will be LoB's birthday weekend, so depending on who comes to town those might be tough but still achievable. I would love to see the 6th just because it is the soonest that meets your requirements. November would be fine also.
I like Clan's ideas for formats. EDIT: I also like the formats that limit range with fog or darkness, by either cutting it in half or limiting to a flat X spaces of range due to visibility. Last edited by Gurei-Ornery; August 20th, 2012 at 09:16 AM. |

Re: Maryland NHSD in Savage
I believe Punkin Chunkin' is the last weekend of October or the first weekend in November, so the 13th would probably be the best option. (Looking on the calendar now) I'll ask the regulars: Camper, BoD, and their brothers.
Maybe teams instead of multiplayer, with 12 start zones a person and like 200-250 points apiece? |

Re: Maryland NHSD in Savage
I've thought about teams before. It would be perfect for you guys and for a few others. I'm worried, though, that some people (drewcula, johngee) might stay away because they normally come alone when they can make it.
Thoughts? Also as much as I love melee - it's my favorite - I don't think I like what all-melee does to the metagame. The PunkinChunkin website appears to be down/hacked at the moment, but I will avoid that weekend. We watch it in our house, too. |

Makes knights better than they already are, makes Ashra playable, encourages new and different builds, de-values Q-9, 4th, 10th, Krav and rats. What's the downside? 73 tournaments. 175 - 145 - 1 overall record. 6 tournament wins. |

Other ideas include a General wars, or a 3-squad-only format like at my first tournament. |

Re: Maryland NHSD in Savage
Want we did for our Team Tournament (GenCon practice version) was that we announced our partners beforehand, ensuring that we had an even number of players. Yes, we did end up with an odd group out that had a bye each round, but at the very least we didn't have someone that didn't end up with a partner.
I also hosted a Team Tourney where we changed up our partners each round; strongest players paired with weakest. Very fun format that way. |

Re: Maryland NHSD in Savage
I'm thinking about multi player again. People like it, and it's family friendly, and keeping people coming is the most important thing. And we have a couple families in the Annapolis area.
General Wars, hmm... |

Have you ever done Heat of Battle as a format? I also liked the multiplayer tournament and the "my time to shine" format from last year. We're hoping to make this one. |
