Re: Hasbro crowd funding - could Heroscape be reprinted?

1) Hasbro allows this website to create group custom cards/figures. From the beginning they actually encouraged customs. They ARE allowing us to expand the game as much as we want. 2) They haven't said anything about the 3d models for terrain and figures that have been posted. Files are available for almost every item they have produced for Heroscape, so you can make your own sets and figures at home ad-infinitum. The resolution is getting such that at tabletop distance you can barely tell the difference. The three things Hasbro could give us are: 1) Injection molded parts (which would be cheaper than 3D prints) 2) Painted figures (but figure painting costs have probably skyrocketed as China's economy has improved, so the prices would jump) 3) Bigger fan base to expand the hobby (although with Toys R Us out of business they would have to promote it through Walmart) A kickstarter might get #1, but probably not #2 or #3. |

If they started a line of unpainted minis using all their molds from the figures they already made. Well, that would be something. If we got injection molded parts that would at least give people a fairly priced way to obtain the figures.

Re: Hasbro crowd funding - could Heroscape be reprinted?
So now that Hasbro successfully used their own crowdfunding site to bring the much renowned HeroQuest back (and it looks to be an updated reprint more than a complete reboot), I think the possibility of a crowd funded Heroscape re-release is a lot more plausible, if not likely, assuming they still own all the original molds to drastically reduce production cost. If nothing else this is an interesting development.

Re: Hasbro crowd funding - could Heroscape be reprinted?
Has there ever been an attempt for a crowdfunded reprint for Heroscape? I would be surprised if there hadn't been considering how alive the community still is and how much money we're willing to spend on plastic.

IT'd have to be on Hasbro's terms, if it did happen.

Re: Hasbro crowd funding - could Heroscape be reprinted?
Something I just thought of just now while reading this thread. It would be really cool if Hasbro opened up the Heroscape system to some sort of license thing where for a small fee creators could sell 3d printing files, and card art for "official" unofficial cards, like what C3V is doing. Something really small like 0.01% of sales, or something to paste official Heroscape art on cards. Then they sell little terrain only packs themselves, either Hasbro online store, or crowd funded packs. The license would let them make money off an unused piece of IP, for almost zero work, and give us a way to get new/replacement terrain easily, not to mention the market of gamers who used to buy Heroscape just to use the terrain in other games. They would certainly have to put limits on what could be sold under the license, like no use of other parties IP, but it would be really cool for keeping the game fresh for years to come.

Re: Hasbro crowd funding - could Heroscape be reprinted?
It would be awesome of Haslab did a reprint. I actually sent an email enquiring to see if that's a possibility.
I bet if more of us did so, it could happen. Maybe....? Stay optimistic and start emailing and maybe someone there will listen. Work hard, play harder! Great traders: beholderthedm, mecha frog, Shoe |

Re: Hasbro crowd funding - could Heroscape be reprinted?
I woul be concerned about seing hasbro continue heroscape. If they just reprint the existing content, it will be really cool. But if they release new expension, it will certainly not be compatible with C3V and SoV, and with the great job you did on those custom, I don't want to see all that job throw away.

Only think I'd be interested in if they brought it back would be more terrain.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
