For variety of gameplay, the first expansion (Power Up) is pretty good (monster specific cards ... so the Kraken has different options than the King, etc...). Halloween is nice for the extra dice and the costume mechanic is a little different (it comes with the PowerUp cards for the two new monsters). Both are pretty inexpensive.

Played Dominion and Dominion: Hinterlands after dinner tonight. Had a good time, but lost by 1 point to my wife.

I have the Halloween expansion and it was cool to play on Halloween the last couple of years, but my family has moved past KoT sadly. I also have the Zombie 15' promo for FoT which is nice also.

We did squeeze in a game of Black Fleet with AuntScaper last night. CatScaper cruised to another victory. For a game with relatively no luck other than ship movement card draw and what upgrades you are dealt, she has a surprisingly high winning percentage at this game.

My wife tends to like to play the same game over and over until she gets tired of it. I've been managing to mix some Dominion in but her go-to-game right now is KoT. Just trying to come up with a way to make 1v1 KoT a little more interesting. We changed the points-from-being-in-Tokyo rules because it was too easy for one of us to stay there and win on points. The only problem is that our new rules (only one point for staying in Tokyo, no points for entering) turn the game into much more of a slugfest (in my mind, at least).

You could play teams, 2v2. I did that once, when I was teaching it. Teammates end up hitting each other accidentally, it's not bad.

Heh, we are playing 1v1. The game has no issues being interesting enough when played with 3+ players.
