They are tricky and strategic to play with . . . but at least Vydar has some Kyrie in his fold (well part Kyrie anyways). Not a bad 60-point filler either.

Thanks to Longy418 for spreading our joy by doing all the splicing, gluing, and paint work.

Cool wave so far guys. I especially liked the mashup of LaHire and Sam Brown in an Orc Champion. The teleporting dudes also really caught my eye.

My only criticism would be on the metagame implications of adding multiple defensive auras--some of them as strong as Rae's.

Still, this is cool stuff.

Question

Is Konrad's BRING YOUR PITCHFORKS...er...Accusation of Evil supposed to be able to affect common squads/heroes? If so, there's some messy language (most abilities that affect common cards say (or cards if your opponent has more than one). Anyways, interesting stuff but that's the only one that stuck out to me as a potential rule break rather than potentially being rather powerful. I may have more comments later.

Character Bio:
These Doggin Trackers are descendents of a time when the hounds roamed far and wide, rampaging across the wastelands of Nullondia. Summoned and engineered by Vydar, these elite Trackers now have antennae arms on their back that allow them to direct their kindred Doggin and those that can discern. The speed of the Trackers allow them to stealthily sprint past their enemies to continue the pursuit of their prey. And when that prey is attacked, it is often caught unaware and overwhelmed by the onslaught of the Doggin Trackers and their hunting party.

Character Bio:
As the battle of all-time waged, all of the Kyrie left the camp of General Vydar in disagreement over the direction and goals of Vydar's ambitions. Deep in his underground vaults, Vydar used the skills of his technical scientists to create a squad of hybrid soulborgs and Kyrie. Vydar had his Vindicators created from the spare parts of destroyed Blastatrons and the wings of dead, or mostly dead, Kyrie. Reclaiming the skies for Vydar, the Vindicators have been programmed with the ability to repair on the battlefield and direct their programming when most beneficial to Vydar's cause.

We will definitely take a look at our wording here and try and clean it up a bit if necessary.

Thanks for the kind words Capsocrates. Skerak adds a little bit of a different dimension to playing with orcs, and the Davions are fun and a bit tricky to play well. We put much effort, debate, and play testing into our customs.

I have considered your criticism in my desire to do the best that we can with our customs. We have only included a defense aura in the last wave for Goblins and adjacent Ullar figures. I don't see those auras nearly as strong as Rae's, who adds defense dice to all figures. Zard's and the Warden's defense auras only protects a much smaller subset of figures. Our choice to include the defensive aura was to give us an option to not want to play with Raelin and still be successful in the metagame. I don't think adding defensive boosts are out of the norm - there are numerous other figures out there that do so: Nerak, Ana K, Thorgrim, Master Woo, Swog Rider, Legionnaires, Hatamoto, Spartacus, Lizard Kings for Greenscales, Kyntela, orc champions, etc. Also, we do consider the metagame and play test thoroughly when creating our customs. Your continued feedback is appreciated and will only help us. Thanks.

Thanks for your feedback AverageFan. We discussed this at length when coming up with the name of the power. The precedence is Kantono Daishi from C3V with his Dishonorable Leadership power. So, we felt OK with our choice. Your continued feedback is welcomed.

Character Bio:
Deep in the basement in the back corner of the Royal Library, a group of young Kresnik watch as the strange elder, Konrad von Bramgur, tilts the book "Morindan Contaminated" to a 45% degree angle and pushes down. The shelf twists 25 degrees exposing a narrow passage of stairs leading even further down. Konrad urges the hand selected recruits to follow him down.
When they reach the bottom of the stairs a large room is occupied by a group that Konrad calls the Shadow Slayers, "a group of the best hunters from Kresnik". "But to become a Shadow Slayer it takes more than being a good hunter" Konrad explains, "it takes a belief that the evil monsters they encounter in the forests of Morindan can only be cured in the afterlife, thus the evil must be destroyed in this life, and this is why I have chosen you."
Konrad shows them books that only the Shadow Slayers know exist. Books that delve into the darkness of the enemies they face. "The Shadow Slayers must know every aspect of the darkness they face to truly defeat them. But beware", Konrad warns, "for every verse read the reader is changed, becoming more and more like our adversaries, and if your heart is not pure, there is chance of becoming pure demon yourself."

* Announcement (November 23, 2016) - NWHC has improved all cards.

We've come along way since our first card efforts with a better understanding of photo editing and card quality. All cards have improved backgrounds, taken from DanieLoche's outstanding efforts, with a few modifications. Many figures have been re-imaged to improve quality. All cards have improved text. Please let us know if anything didn't transfer correctly. Many of the images in quotes may no longer be linked.

NWHC is preparing to release our 4th wave, which has been in development and play-testing for a year and a half.

After a year and a half of brainstorming, designing, and play-testing, we introduce NWHC's Fourth Wave of releases. We will share a couple of figures each week. Check out the OP for the list of units. We appreciate your feedback.



NWHC Wave 4: FIELDS OF WILDFIRE

Bubbling up from the molten fields of Volcarren, ignited into existence by a Primordial, wild fire begins to spread destruction. Adding to the chaos, Valkrill brings forth a skilled archer whose arrows seek the heart of his target, two heroes from the dragon cult, and a sister-hood that brings sorrow to their foes. A Marro warlord and a Drow shadow caster have been summoned by Utgar.

A fourth Nakita is brought to aid the agents of Vydar. Mika's allies from Khorvair are reported to strike from the shadows. A caster of runes is heard to be running with Aquilla's wolf-packs. A wild gladiator is breaking shields and soulborgs are entering the matrix for General Einar. The winds blow strong in a mighty tempest for Jandar and a ferocious dragon is causing havoc for the enemies of Ullar.

The battle for the wellsprings of Valhalla continues in the Fields of Wildfire.

PLUNDER
After moving and before attacking, if at least 2 Barbary Corsairs are engaged with a figure occupying a glyph, you may place that glyph on a space that one of those Barbary Corsairs occupies. If at least 2 Barbary Corsairs are engaged with a figure carrying a glyph, you may place that glyph on any empty space adjacent to one of those Barbary Corsairs.

RECKLESS HERO BONDING
Before taking a turn with the Barbary Corsairs, you may first take a turn with any small or medium Hero you control with the reckless personality.


Character Bio:
For 3 centuries the Barbary Corsairs were the most dangerous Pirates in existence. Their acts of piracy gave the Ottoman Empire its strength and treasure. The Holy League was created to squash the Corsair power and many would lose their lives in the Battle of Lepanto. The Corsairs were out shipped, out manned, and out gunned yet fought fiercely against the Holy League. The Corsairs were amazingly winning the battle until the forces of the Holy League faced less and less attacks. Soon the tide had turned and the Holy League began to board galley after galley finding many of the ships empty. Utgar thought the Corsairs would be an invaluable addition to his army in the battle of all time.

-Reckless Hero Bonding: Barbary Corsairs
As a Small or Medium Reckless Hero, any of the following may benefit from RECKLESS HERO BONDING; “Suds” Merrick, Darrin Razorbeak, Evar Scarcarver, Martial La Hire.

-Reckless Abandon: “Suds” Merrick
Having a pirate army card, for every revealed order marker on the Barbary Corsairs army card add 1 to “Suds” Merrick’s attack value.

Synergy Benefits Received

-Torin: Evil Eye Protection
As a Medium figure that follows Utgar, Barbary Corsairs may benefit from Torin's Evil Eye Protection defensive ability.

Synergy Imposed

-Reckless Abandon: “Suds” Merrick
Having a pirate army card, for every revealed order marker on the Barbary CorsaIirs army card subtract 1 from “Suds” Merrick’s attack value.
