What is this strange "subscription" thing your refer to? (I don't use subscriptions much, browsing instead using the "today's posts" link, so I suppose that's why this sort of idea wouldn't have occurred to me.)

On to your proposal--sure, as long as such a thread is only used for announcements that occur after the trade threads are still created and updated, I can't see any downside to allowing it. I'll amend the rules and create the thread. I'm at another busy time, so even though it is a relatively straightforward operation, give me a few days to make this happen. (That will also give other admins time to weigh in in our private forum if they have any concerns that didn't spring to mind for me).

I don't like the must link rule. Why make formalized titles then?

@Jim, then I have to go through a backlog and be more choosy about what I read. I ahve too much freetime so I catch up pretty quickly.

A link is just being courteous to others rather than having to search for someone's name. It does not take long to link a thread.

You just don't let that happen! Even when I can't respond right away, which is often, I'll open a thread I'm intending to respond to later in another tab and come back to it another day.

But if I do miss a day, I suppose the "new posts" link would have me covered.

The only time I subscribe to something is if I'm monitoring something very closely and I want an instant email notification. I have a few of those.

I subscribe to nothing as well, don't need all the junk in my email. The Today's Posts and New Posts links work just fine.

Well I don't turn on the email part of it .... As I understand, that doesn't work very reliably on this site anyway. But it's nice to be able to go to my User CP and see all of the bumped threads I'm subscribed to in one place. Soooo much easier than just searching the forums. I do occasionally miss out on new threads for a few days this way, though.

Every thread that I post in, I automatically become subscribed to. I have not chosen to receive subscription emails, so I don't get anything clogging up my inbox.
