Essential Marvel

Please don't e-beat me up for this thread, but today I was thinking about which characters are sort of essential for Marvelscape. That is, if the game ends, which characters will I have wanted to see the most? Who are the essential who's who of the Marvel Universe. This is what I came up with...

Avengers:
Giant Man/Ant Man
Hawkeye
Kang the Conqueror
Loki
Quicksilver
Scarlet Witch
Thor
Ultron
Vision
Wasp

Spider-Man:
Black Cat
Carnage
Chameleon
Elektro
Green Goblin
Hobgoblin
The Lizard
Mysterio
Rhino
Scorpion
Vulture

X-Men:
Angel/Archangel
Apocalypse
Blob
Cable
Colossus
Cyclops
Gambit
Iceman
Jean Grey
Juggernaut
Magneto
Mister Sinister
Mystique
Nightcrawler
Omega Red
Professor X
Pyro
Rogue
Sabertooth
Storm
Sentinel(s)
White Queen
Wolverine

Other:
Annihilus
Daredevil
Dr. Strange
Elektra
Ghost Rider
Kingpin
The Leader
Mandarin
Mephisto
Nick Fury
Mr. Fantastic
She-Hulk
Sub-Mariner

What say you? Who is missing? Who is unnecessary in the list I've provided?

Sounds pretty good to me, although I might add the ringmaster(maybe) along with his henchmen, and I don't think you added chamealon(sp?), who is a definate requirement in my book.

Also, I don't think that all those guys in the X-men list were all that needed. I would stick a little more to the basics, but I'm a spider-man fan, personally(yes, I know how strange that sounds, but hey), so I wouldn't know what X-men fans would want, but that's just my opinion.

I think you have all the basic-must-haves in there, I'm not really too familier with the Marvel Universe so that's just in my perspective. I really do hope they continue, and not discontinue Marvel. There are so many cool possibilities they could make for figures (example, have a sentinel being huge, but a common hero) and terrain. So, hopefully, they''ll have enough sales on Marvel wave 1 from us (and some others), that they will continue to produce Marvel as frequent as Heroscape.

P. S. - A good idea, in my opinion, for Wizards to save Marvelscape is to create a new master set right after wave 1 to replace the sale gaps from the first one, or, just reprint a bunch more of the origanal (which I think they're planning on doing) to boost up wave 1 to fans that didn't catch on.

Moon Knight and Nick Fury are two not on your list that I think are at least as important as some of those lesser X-Men.

I'm surprised to see you leave out Galactus, too. I don't think he sounds very fun myself, but a lot of people around here neeeeeed one.

Added Chameleon and Scorpion to the list.

Which X-characters are superfluous?

Atombob Woo who?
Geez, If they made all those then I may have to give up my Heroclix addiction

I love playing Heroclix too much to ever give it up but Heroscape is dangerously close to my rethinking of that statement.

If they did make a bunch of X-Men heros/villains I may have a dilemma on my hands

My essentials, based on recent play and the contents of the Master Set and Wave One, with the goal of having a complete snapshot of the Marvel Universe. I'd like to see most of the following before I consider that snapshot to be complete.

FANTASTIC FOUR
*Mister Fantastic (absolute must, obviously)
*Galactus (seems weird to have Silver Surfer and not him)
*Skrull Warriors (Super-Skrull needs someone to be super around)

MARVEL KNIGHTS:
*Daredevil (can't have Bullseye and not him)
*Elektra (can't have Daredevil and not her)
-Kingpin
-Doctor Strange
-Ghost Rider

AVENGERS/ULTIMATES:
-Hawkeye
-Nick Fury
-SHIELD Agents
-Black Widow
*Thor (it's Valhalla....who better to fight there?)
-Loki
-Vision
-Ultron
-Klaw (we're getting Black Panther..his foe seems like a logical choice)

SPIDER-MAN:
-Green Goblin

X-MEN:
*Wolverine (arguably Marvel's most popular character after Spider-Man)
*Sabretooth (Wolverine's classic foe, required if Wolverine shows up)
-Colossus
-Juggernaut
*Professor X (the leader of the X-men...no matter who we get to make up his team, they need their boss)
*Magneto (the classic X-villain...followers can be swapped around, but Magneto is the key player)
-Iceman
*Storm (another true icon of the mutant players)
-Toad
-Nightcrawler
*Cyclops (too integral to too many versions of the team to ignore)
*Jean Grey (aka Phoenix, aka Marvel Girl...also a key mutant in the mythos)
-Sentinels
-Mystique
-Blob
-Rogue
-Gambit
-Angel

I still think if Marvelscape continues, it seems clear that X-characters are purposely being avoided. This points to an X-themed master set on the horizon.

THAT would be cool. Maybe a Danger Room with lots of objects.

I'll be happy if I get a Wonderman and Dr. Strange.

Thirded.

As for "essential" Marvel
1) everyone is going to have a different opinion, and
2) you guys are consistently naming a number of characters I (and I'm sure others who aren't as familiar with Marvel) have never heard of or only vaguely recall having heard the name before. I'd hardly call that "essential."
