SoA & NS's Predict the Vic Battle Reports, 3/31/14

I apologize for the lateness of this report, but I've had a hectic week. The votes are 9-1 in my favor. Enjoy.

The Map- The West Barbican of Idona Castle


The way this scenario works is, I must either kill all of NS's figures, or survive to the end of Round 12. To win, NS must either kill all of my figures before the end of Round 12, or take down the flag.

Round 1
initiative- SoA=18, NS=16

The Romans dispatch a front guard to defend the door.


The Stingers rush the guards, grab the Glyph of Valda, and rip through 2 Romans.


The Brits retaliate by wasting the entire squad.


The marked Hydra lurks behind a ruin...


The Romans strengthen their position outside the castle.


The Hive sends telepathic commands to the Stingers, who charge again, killing another 2 Romans. The Hive then spews forth a new Stinger.


The field at the end of Round 1-


Round 2
initiative- SoA=10, NS=20

The Hive moves the Stingers again, killing another 2 Romans, bringing the siege army's kill total to 6.


The Marro Warlord plugs a Stinger, and the Romans decide they might be safer if they close the door, leaving Me-Burq-Sa and a Stinger alone.


The Stingers slaughter the traitorous warlord.


The Romans reinforce the door, but fail to make a kill.


The 'Grubs bond, and cross the river ahead of their Hivelord.


The 10th Regiment kill off another 2 Marro.


Round 3
initiative- SoA=20, NS=17

The Romans begin moving down Marcus to aid them, while they get another guard out of the castle.


The Stingers drain, but kill off one of their own, who is subsequently rebirthed by the Hive.


The 10th follow Marcus, rushing down the ladders for the door.


The Stingers kill off a soldier.


Marcus, in his haste to aid his comrades, decides to jump the last few ladder rungs.


The Hivelord kills the foremost Legionnaire.


The field at the end of Round 3-


Round 4
initiative- SoA=20, NS=17 (yes, we did get repeat initiative rolls.)

Marcus moves to the door while the Romans charge and deal 4 wounds to the Hivelord.


A Nagrub and a Roman are eaten.


The Romans carve their way through the Hivelord and a Stinger.


The Nagrubs avenge their fallen leader by ripping a couple of soldiers apart.


The Brits dash for the door.


The Hive convulses, and spits out a Stinger.


The field at the end of Round 4-


Round 5
initiative- SoA=16, NS=7

Marcus captures the Glyph of Valda, and the Romans exterminate some 'Grubs.


The Hive moves a Stinger, who dies trying to drain. The Hive just burps out another.


The Brit's leave the building, and blast a Nagrub into oblivion.


The Hive attacks via the last Stinger, but that and rebirth fail.


The 10th set up a pod on height and kill a Stinger.


A Hydra flanks the pod and snacks on soldiers.


Round 6
initiative- SoA=19, NS= 17

The 10th Regiment land a couple of head shots on the beast.


The Hydra munches on another 10th.


Marcus abandons Valda, and the Romans bring down the Hydra.


An order marker lost on the deceased Hydra.

A couple soldiers move to reinforce their fellows, who put a wound on the remaining Hydra.



The Hive spawns a Stinger.


Round 7
initiative- SoA=1, NS=17

The Hydra rushes the defenders and rips a 10th in half.


The last Brit outside the Castle rushes the monster, and puts his bayonet through one of its three skulls while his comrades keep moving out.



The Hydra kills the offending Brit. Sorry, no picture. Trust me, it was grisly.

The Romans make quick work of the second Hydra.


The Hive has a Stinger target the Romans while it successfully rebirths. Uh-oh.


The defenders charge the Hive, killing a Stinger en route.


The field at the end of Round 7-


Round 8
initiative- SoA=7, NS=5

The Romans assault the enemy starting zone, wounding the Hive.


The Hive rebirths, frantic for minions to aid it. We have a bit of back and forth that's basically the same picture. The hive gets to 5 wounds, a stinger is born, and both sides cant land a hit. Meanwhile, the Brits keep coming from the castle, taking their sweet time.


A Stinger dies trying to drain, but the Hive just keeps pumping them out. Grossed out yet? I was.


Round 9
initiative- SoA=2, NS=5

The Stinger and the Hive each take a Roman life, but no babies.


The Romans, for some reason, can't pierce the Hive's 2 defense. Yawn.

The stinger dies trying to drain, and the Hive's womb is apparently dry.

While moving for the Hive, the Brits snipe a 'Grub.


A birth! It's a.... a.... it.


The Hive perishes, crumpling in on its broken, bony shell. The West barbican has been held, and the attackers all but obliterated.


Son of Arathorn Wins!

I'll have the next armies and map up in a few days.

Nice report! I played that scenario once with my dad. I was attacking with the hive and marro. He eventually lost with much frustration as the marro just kept coming .

My first initual thought was SoA, I don't think the knights can spread ot fast enough to be saved from Braxas though Sir Dupuis can get 7-8 attack on him and with only 3 defense braxas may go down fast (I know he has 8 life), if NS canplay that team right they will deffinately win. I vote NS.

Then of course theres, Atlaga, I hope he doesn't kill Sir Dupuis with Ullar's Bolt of Witherhood.

Honestly I think it's gonna be close.
