Re: Sports: NFL
Insanely close game.. I'm gonna predict the Ravens. I think they're very capable of getting a turnover that could be game changing/winning.
Edit: ...and they just did? Edit2: No, they didn't, but i still think the Ravens will take this. If you're not rolling for Stinger Drain, you're not living. |

Re: Sports: NFL
Congratulations Patriots fans. That was a great play-off game. Obviously disappointed Ravens couldn't pull it off, but pleased they made it as far as they did, all things considered.
To me, what killed us was a number of missed tackles (or broken tackles for the Patriots fans!) There were at least three drives that would have been stopped if the Ravens had made the tackle at the point of contact. We also just couldn't get a break on fumble recoveries. Oh well, at least I can watch the rest of the games without any stress. Go Pack! Re: Sports: NFL
Yeah jb, missed tackles on Amendola were pretty costly a couple times.

Re: Sports: NFL
Yeah, the Ravens were traumatized by injury in the secondary this year. They had 19 players on IR, and I think as many as 7 were in the defensive secondary, including Jimmy Smith, one of the best CBs in the game until he went down in Week (again, iirc) 7. Maybe their *best* CB tonight was Melvin, who was signed off the Dolphins' practice squad 3 weeks ago. Their safeties are woeful (Elam) or lining up as CBs (Levine).
That defensive secondary was MacGyvered together, and Brady had the skills and experience to expose it. With all of our injuries and suspensions and drama this year, making the playoffs was a great success. Beating Pittsburgh in the wild card round was icing on the cake. We played the best team in the AFC to the final whistle and almost stole it from them in their house. No shame in this year, from this Ravens fan's perspective. |

Re: Sports: NFL
The use of 4 offensive linemen with 6 typically eligible receivers then flexing to designate which of those is the 5th ineligible is pretty ingenious. Harbaugh had issue with it because they weren't given enough time to react to the designation. Still, it is a pretty interesting tactic if you have the personnel for it. It is usually a lineman checking in as eligible, not a fullback or TE checking in as ineligible.

Re: Sports: NFL
It was the type of thing the Patriots do. Bush league. Harbaugh was right that we can expect the Competition Committee to take a look at it, and I thought Brady's response was beneath him. They knew what they were doing was deceptive and without precedent, and they won. Own it, be gracious, and move on.

Re: Sports: NFL
Yeah, that was kind of putzy thing for him to say. Could have been done in a more classy way.
I'm not a fan of either the Ravens or the Patriots, though one thing I like about the Patriots is their different offensive plays. Being a Bears fan and seeing basic boring azz offensive playcalling for like ....ever, makes me envious when I see some offenses with some creativity. Regardless of that, I'm rooting for the winner of the Broncos/Colts game to get to the Superbowl and win. But because I want that, it won't happen.
