Age of Annihilation Map Contest

With Renegade’s announcement of the first wave of Age of Annihilation, we also got a welcome surprise of all the terrain components for the Age of Annihilation Master Set, Battle for the Wellspring Battle Box, and Laur Jungle terrain set. Due to this, it’s time for a map contest, so we have some competitive maps to use as soon as we get the physical maps in hand!


You may submit up to 2 maps for this contest.

The 1st map MUST be any of these combinations:

1x AoA
1x AoA, 1x BftWS
1x AoA, 1x LJ
1x AoA, 1x BftWS, 1x LJ

The 2nd map can follow the same rules above, or may be any one of these combinations:

1x AoA, 2x BftWS
1x AoA, 2x LJ
2x BtfWS
2x BftWS, 1x LJ
2x BftWS, 2x LJ

Battle for the Wellspring Battle Box:

• 2 24-hex grass tiles
• 3 7-hex grass tiles
• 2 7-hex rock tiles
• 3 3-hex grass tiles
• 2 2-hex rock tiles
• 4 1-hex grass tiles
• 2 1-hex rock
• 3 sparkly blue water tiles
• 7 wellspring water tiles
• 2 Laur Jungle Trees

**Note that the BftWS lists 6 water tiles. However 3 of those belong to Ewashia, so they are not available for map building.**

The Grove at Laur’s Edge (Laur Jungle)

• 3 Laur Jungle Trees
• 6 Laur Jungle Bushes

**The Laur Jungle terrain is larger than Ticalla Jungle, and also more effectively blocks Line of Sight.**

VirtualScape Proxies

VirtualScape is not set up for Laur Walls or Wellspring Water, so we will have to proxy them unless you make custom VS tiles.

• Laur Ruin Connectors+Bases can be represented by Uncapped Castle Walls+Bases
• Uncapped Castle Bases cannot be used for terrain supports, as we don't have the Laur Ruin Base designs and thus may not be suitable for support.
• Laur Walls w/Connectors can be proxied with a RotV ruin jammed between 2 Castle Walls. You will intentionally overlap them in VS.
• Wellspring Water can be represented by Ice Tiles.

Wellspring Water Rules

Shared by Rowan on the Renegade Discord, edited for clarity:

At the beginning of a round, each Hero on a Wellspring water tile may roll the 20-sided die. If the result is 12 or higher, that Hero may remove 1 Wound Marker from its Army Card. If the result is a 1 or 2, that Hero becomes confused by visions and suffers 2 wounds. Wellspring water tiles are a type of water. Figures must stop their movement when entering Wellspring water tiles.

**Wellspring Water rules are optional and therefore must mention if they are active or not (still use Ice Tiles for Wellspring Water locations in case someone wants to use the rules anyway)**

The parts list shows 7 laur walls but how many of each size? My prediction is 2 large 4 small and 1 "ruined" wall.

There has been a wall pack hinted at that we assume would make it equal to or more than the AH campaign. Probably announced for Wave 2 in June?

It looks like it would be a similar size to the RotV master set ruins, like the section of wall shown in the top left.
