The Holocron of Darth Vader
The Holocron of Darth Vader HoSS Master Set - A New Hope The figure used for this unit is a Star Wars figure from the Rebels & Imperials set. Its model number and name are #12/Darth Vader, Champion of the Sith. The figure used for this unit is a Star Wars figure from the Champions of the Force set. Its model number and name are #49/Darth Vader, Champion of the Sith. ______________________________________________________________ Character Bio - Anakin Skywalker, apprenticed to Darth Sidious, better known as his friend Chancellor Palpatine, he became Darth Vader. The Galactic Empire was founded with Palpatine at the helm as Emperor, and after Vader led an attack on the Jedi Temple, the Jedi were exterminated by Order 66, with fewer than a hundred surviving. Two of the survivors were Grand Master Yoda and Skywalker's old master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Vader dueled his old master on the fiery world of Mustafar, and despite the Sith Lord's new abilities, he was defeated by his old master, and his body was so damaged by the lava that Sidious encased him in a dark life-sustaining suit that he would wear for the rest of his life. As a master of the dark side, Vader became the scourge of the Jedi, continuing the Great Jedi Purge which would last until 1 BBY. An extension of the Emperor's will, the Dark Lord was constantly on the move, traveling throughout the galaxy to defeat rebel uprisings or arrest corrupt Imperials. ______________________________________________________________ -Rulings and Clarifications- Force Leap Instead of a normal move, this figure may Force Leap. Force Leap has a move of 3. When counting spaces for Force Leap movement, ignore elevations. This figure may Force Leap over water without stopping, Force Leap over figures without becoming engaged, and Force Leap over obstacles such as ruins. You may not Force Leap more than 25 levels up or down in a single Force Leap. If this figure is engaged when is starts to Force Leap, it will take any leaving engagement attacks. Figures with the Force Leap symbol are not affected by Falling or Major Falling but are affected by Extreme Falling Force Push Once per turn, before or after moving or attacking, you may choose a small or medium object or opponents figure within 2 clear sight spaces to Force Push. Choose up to 2 empty same level or lower spaces in a straight line from the chosen object or figure and move that object or figure onto either of the chosen spaces. Figures affected by Force Push may not be moved closer to this figure. Figures moved by Force Push never take any leaving engagement attacks but will receive any falling damage that may apply. Figures with a Force Leap or Force Push symbol may not be moved onto a molten lava space. ______________________________________________________________ -Combinations and Synergies- Synergy Benefits Received: Classic: N/A HoSS: GRAND MOFF TARKIN : Imperial Deployment Being a figure that follows the Galactic Empire, Darth Vader may benefit from Grand Moff Tarkin's IMPERIAL DEPLOYMENT special power. Re: The Holocron of Darth Vader *
Darth Vader
Galactic Empire Cyborg Unique Hero Sith Lord Imposing Medium 5 Life 6 Move 5 Range 1 Attack 6 Defense 6 Points 220 FORCE CHOKE After moving and before attacking with Darth Vader, you may choose a figure within 4 clear sight spaces of Darth Vader. If Darth Vader is engaged, you may only choose an adjacent figure to Force Choke. Roll 1 attack die. If you roll a skull and the chosen figure does not have the Force Leap or Force Push special power, you may roll 1 additional attack die. Continue rolling attack dice in this manner until you fail to roll a skull. The chosen figure receives 1 wound for each skull rolled. Force Choke does not affect Droids, Undead, or destructible objects. Darth Vader may not use Force Choke and Force Push on the same turn. INTIMIDATING PRESENCE All opponents' Common Squad figures within 6 clear sight spaces of Darth Vader roll 1 less defense die. YOU HAVE FAILED ME FOR THE LAST TIME If Darth Vader is not engaged and a Unique Hero you control within 4 clear sight spaces of Darth Vader attacks with a normal attack but does not roll any skulls, you must immediately use Darth Vader's Force Choke Special Power on that figure. Re: The Holocron of Darth Vader
Darth Vader looks very cool. Quite the powerhouse and a nice set of thematic powers.

Re: The Holocron of Darth Vader
Very Super-hero-esque powers. VERY VERY cool!
Just curious; why does it not work on Droids? I thought that it wrecked havoc on electrical equipment too? Or is that another version? |

Re: The Holocron of Darth Vader
Force Choke simply cuts of oxygen (at least as portrayed in the movies) so we decided that we should give Droids/Soulborgs and Undead an immunity to it. It also provides Vader with a much needed weakness.

Choke squeezes the throat, (esophagus?) and therefore doesn't effect Droids. Last edited by Sheep; July 1st, 2013 at 12:44 PM. Reason: ninja'd by Fi |

Re: The Holocron of Darth Vader
I've been excited about the HoSS Darth Vader for a long time... as a guy without much Star Wars experience, he's the note you needed to hit, and boy did you hit it. Tough, ruthless, and brutal - easily my favorite of the set.

Then again, you can always ask us why it is what it is, but just throwing that out there. Last edited by Sheep; July 1st, 2013 at 05:45 PM. Reason: ~HS2010, knowing he has to use Wookieepedia a lot for Expanded Universe figures. |

Re: The Holocron of Darth Vader
I think the answer is no, but is Force choke affected by Zogross's tribal protection or opportunity strike?
Last edited by Crixus33; November 30th, 2013 at 01:32 PM. Reason: I only ask because it is affected by adjacency rules |

Re: The Holocron of Darth Vader
Neither Tribal Protection nor Opportunity Strike come into play since Force Choke is a special power, not an attack. I can see where there might be confusion since Force Choke uses attack dice instead of the d20.
