Units: Capwolf, Werewolf x4 (800) VS Cyclops 2, Shadowcat 2, Jean Grey, Pyro, Angel (800)

Capwolf & the wolves advance, as do the entire X-Men squad thanks to Shadowcat & Angel. Shadowcat is given 2 wounds and loses her Mutant status, but Cyclops, Jean, and Pyro put 3 wounds on one wolf and 1 on another. Capwolf ends the round by moving near his wolves and putting 3 wounds on Pyro.

Cyclops rolls 6 skulls with Optic Destruction special attack and wipes out 2 werewolves in one attack. Jean throws Capwolf into water, and Pyro is blocked. Cap runs away and sends in some more wolves. X-Men put 2 wounds on a wolf. The wolves kill Pyro. The X-Men take out another wolf and put 3 wounds on another. The wolf fails.

The X-Men take out the last werewolf then put 2 wounds on Capwolf. Capwolf fails. The X-Men fail. Capwolf fails. Jean gets a wound on Capwolf. Capwolf puts 2 wounds on Jean.

The X-Men put a wound on Capwolf. Capwolf puts a wound on Jean. Cyclops & Jean take out Capwolf.

Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Cyclops, Angel, Jean w/3 wounds, and Shadowcat w/2 wounds & lycnthrope marker win.

The wolves had terrible dice this game. Capwolf himself is a beast with the healing factor and 6/6 stats plus possible autoshield. Had the wolves wounded anyone besides Shadowcat this game would have gone differently since Cyclops was consistently getting 2 attacks per turn + Jean’s throw.

Michael chooses Capwolf as his victim. Everybody moves up. The wolves put a wound on Leatherface. Leatherface puts 2 wounds on himself and 1 wound on a wolf, while Michael also puts a wound on the wolf. Capwolf moves next to Pinhead and deals 3 wounds.

Pinhead runs away while Leatherface brings a wolf to 4 wounds. Capwolf engages Pinhead but fails. Michael Myers kills a wolf. Leatherface puts 3 wounds on a wolf but also kills himself. Capwolf puts 2 wounds on Pinhead while a wolf puts a wound on Michael. Michael brings a wolf to 4 wounds. Capwolf kills Pinhead and a wolf puts 2 wounds on Michael.

Capwolf sends up a wolf while the other wolf fails. Chucky fails. The wolves fail. Chucky puts a wound on a wolf. The wolves put 3 wounds on Sam and kill Michael. Chucky puts 2 wounds on a wolf.

Michael Myers returns & wounds Cap. The wolves put a wound on Chucky & Capwolf puts 3 wounds on Michael. Michael fails. The wolves put 2 wounds on Sam. Michael fails. Capwolf kills Michael and the Wolves kill Chucky but he plays dead. Sam takes a wound.

Beast Boy T-REX bites a wolf for 2 wounds. Chucky & Sam are killed. Capwolf kills T-REX.

The Slashers could not keep up with the ridiculous healing of the werewolves.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Well these were two polar opposites in game results, weren’t they? Capwolf himself is worth the points; 6/6 stats with healing every turn is amazing especially since he can still activate 2 wolves (and have them heal too) if Capwolf doesn’t move/attack/both. The autoshield is unreliable but makes wounding him consistently a challenge. This is a very swingy army because healing factors make games especially reliant on major swings of the dice. I can’t really offer any suggestions for point cost since my games were so swingy.

I did not use shadow on any maps (I don’t own any), by the way, so take that into account. On a shadow map the werewolves get a little better since Stealth Pounce never came up in my games.

GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: Fun army though I find healing factors pretty frustrating for the reasons explained above. Not to say anything should change about that (as it is thematic and the werewolves already have it), it’s just a personal opinion. It’s nice to have a leader for the Werewolves, since I did not find them that useful prior to this design.

Very fun character! I really like what he does. I wish you could add regular Cap to this army too, that would be brutal! Two wins here, and they were good games. Wrecking Crew didn't roll many skulls at all, but they hit their bonding rolls a ton, so I guess it evened out.

R1: Wrecker leads the charge, and Cap brings up two wolves. Wrecker throws his bar, hitting a wolf for 3. Two wolves take turns, activating healing factor, but they miss their attacks. Cap moves adjacent to Wrecker, and two wolves also move.

R2: Two wolves attack Wrecker, one starting on a shadow space, but both still miss.Wrecker misses Cap. The wolves finally deal a wound to Wrecker. Wrecker misses, but also moves up Thunderball and Bulldozer. Cap hits 3 wounds on Wrecker, and piledriver hits 3 on a wolf.

R3: Wrecker hits 3 wounds on Cap, and Cap misses him, but a wolf hits Piledriver for 2. Thunderball misses a wolf, and Cap takes out Wrecker. Piledriver destroys a wolf. Cap deals a wound to Piledriver, but the wolves miss. Cap lets two wolves go so they can heal, one of which deals 2 wounds to Piledriver, the other grabs a shadow tile. The Wrecker crew rolls hot, taking 4 turns, but only manage a single wound on Cap. Cap gives two wolves turns, so they’re all full health again, and the one in shadow deals 2 wounds to Thunderball. Cap deals 3 wounds to Bulldozer, and a wolf takes out Piledriver.

R4: Cap misses, and a wolf deals a wound to Thunderball. Wrecking crew hit another hot streak, but can’t roll more than one or two skulls, the end result being 2 wounds on a wolf. Cap leads two wolves into shadow to set up a big attack. A wolf leaps out of shadow to deal one wound, and the other wolf that’s been attacked heals one and misses an attack. Thunderball kills a wolf.

R5: Bulldozer wallops a wolf for 4 wounds, and the wolf retaliates and kills Bulldozer. Thunderball ball-and-chain slams dealing tons of wounds.

R6: Thunderball hits Cap for 2, and the two remaining wolves heal and deal a wound. Thunderball misses Cap, and vice versa. Cap finishes Thunderball.

R1: Both teams move up, and Sue shoots Cap but Bizarro intercepts. Reed wraps but Bizarro to stop him but misses his attack. Cap rushes behind the fray and hits Sue for 3 wounds!

R2: Sue flies away quick, and shoots Cap which enrages Bizarro who deals a wound to Reed. Reed whiffs all of his 9 defense dice and takes two wounds from Bizarro! Reed fails his roll and misses Bizarro. Two wolves move up. Thing deals 3 wounds to Cap, and Bizarro wounds Reed again. Torch hits Bizarro for a wound, and Reed misses. A wolf sneaks behind and kills Sue!

R3: The wolves miss Thing and Reed. Thing tries to slaughter Cap, but misses and Bizarro kills Reed, then deals a wound to Thing. Cap deals two wounds to Thing, and Thing blocks and retaliates a wolf. Torch uses Flame On! Two deal 2 wounds to a wolf, but misses Bizarro.

R4: Thing misses Bizarro, since Cap’s shield is super useful. Two wolves move, heal, and deal 3 wounds to Torch, and a wound to Thing! Thing then slaughters Bizarro and Cap in a single turn!! Torch goes supernova on two wolves, but of course only rolls 1 skull.

R5: Thing kills a wolf, and then wounds another one. A wolf tries his best to finish Torch to de-power Thing, but misses.

R6: The last wolf jumps into shadow to rest and heal, and Thing charges forward. The wolf pounces out and kills Thing!!

R7: The wolf finishes off Torch with a pounce from shadow.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY:
Capwolf is super cool. His bonding is fantastic, and makes the wolves pretty cool. I used shadow tiles which made them more useful, but the limitations on the bonding keeps them in check. Not being able to attack with Cap while moving is rough, but his defense boost keeps your team alive while you position.



GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT:
I really feel like this “faction” needs another unit to be great, even a random support unit. That’s why I added Bizarro, with Cap’s shield and Bizarro’s Villainous Duty, they were a real force to be reckoned with. Someone needs to design a werewolf with a gun, too. They want range. Otherwise he was real fun, and I love that Cap can shield any ally, so you CAN add other units and it works great.

Nope and it looks like I did not give him range. Will have to double check to see if he uses a gun at all.
I may have had a transformation mechanic at one point.
