NAME OF THE PLAYTEST UNIT: Green Arrow (II)

Spoiler Alert!

Round 1: Black Canary rushes out to meet the incoming Titans, who quickly gain height thanks to Aqualad. Black Canary puts 3 wounds on Aqualad and Green Arrow uses Cupid’s Arrow to attack but misses. The Titans take out Black Canary with Titans Go, then Batman throws a Batarang to eliminate Aqualad.

Round 2: The Titans fail to wound Batman - they can’t seem to roll more than 2 skulls at a time now. Batman puts 3 wounds on Starfire, then Green Arrow spend a marker to finish Starfire off. Batman attacks Nightwing, who dodges and disengages.

Round 3: The Titans wound Batman but Raven takes a disengagement wound. Batman fails, then Green Arrow burns a marker to take a turn, putting 2 wounds on Raven with 3 attacks (Batman spent a marker to boost the Arrows of Justice roll once). Raven soul selfs a wound to Batman. Batman fails, so Green Arrow spend a marker to take a turn, putting 1 wound on Raven with 3 attacks (Batman spent a marker to boost the Arrows of Justice roll once). Miss Martian puts a third wound on Batman. Batman wounds Miss Martian.

Round 4: The Titans take out Batman, and his final JL marker is sent to Wonder Woman (who couldn’t use her Ambassador of Justice this round). Nightwing wounds Green Arrow. Raven soul selfs a wound onto Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman puts 3 wounds onto Nightwing.

Round 5: The Titans fail to wound Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman fails, so she has Green Arrow spend his last marker to try and kill Nightwing, but he fails his attack. Raven wounds Green Arrow then soul selfs a wound onto Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman kills Miss Martian.

Round 6: Wonder Woman finally kills Nightwing then Raven finishes her off.

Round 7: Raven kills Green Arrow.


Damage Done: 2 wounds on Starfire, 4 wounds on Raven.

Arrows of Justice: Rolled d20 8 times, 4 successes (2 thanks to a Batman JL marker boost).

Arrow to the Rescue: Took 4 turns by spending markers.

Acrobatic Movement: used pretty often on attack and defense.

Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Raven (0 wounds) wins.

The JL army felt good, but they couldn’t compete with the power of the Titans once Wonder Woman’s JL markers ran out.

Round 1: Punisher wounds Black Canary. Black Canary engages Captain America and deals him 3 wounds with 4 attacks, then Green Arrow spends a marker to attack but is blocked. Punisher puts 2 wounds on Black Canary. Black Canary kills Captain America with fists of Fury.

Round 2: Punisher kills Black Canary. Batman moves up. Punisher wounds Batman. Batman puts 2 wounds on Punisher, then Green Arrow spends a marker to attack but misses. Iron Man then swoops up and kills Batman with a lucky roll, and Batman’s JL markers are sent to Wonder Woman and Green Arrow. Wonder Woman moves up.

Round 3: Punisher wounds Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman attacks Punisher while having Green Arrow spend markers to take a turn - Green Arrow puts a couple wounds on Punisher. Iron Man puts 4 wounds on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman puts a couple wounds on Iron Man. Vision fails. Wonder Woman kills Punisher.

Round 4: Wonder Woman fails, and Green Arrow spends his last marker to take a turn and kill Iron Man. Vision kills Wonder Woman. Both Vision and Green Arrow fail to wound each other.

Round 5: Green Arrow wounds Vision before falling.


Damage Done: 2 wounds on Punisher, 2 wounds on Iron Man, 1 wound on Vision.

Arrows of Justice: Rolled d20 7 times, 2 successes.

Arrow to the Rescue: Took 6 turns by spending markers (he got 2 extra markers from Batman).

Acrobatic Movement: used pretty often on attack and defense.

Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Vision (1 wound) wins.

Again, the JL team felt good. Black Canary went on a rampage early on, but Iron Man came back with a vengeance. Green Arrow got in a few nice wounds.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Felt good, definitely not overpowered with this version. I put him against some pretty strong teams and the JL team came up short each time - though both games were close. I purposefully had the opposing team ignore Green Arrow for the most part which I felt was a good strategy when facing him. Acrobatic Movement makes it hard to pin down Green Arrow, so go after his allies early on instead.

I’d play him as-is, so I’m good moving on with the current design.

Seems like decent loss margins on the changed version. Any thought of going 210 here to make a nice 400 point block with Canary?

Thanks for the pics, Nobody! My plan was to stick with the hooded mini as further research has shown that outfit to show up pretty often with the JL, and it's the outfit I prefer.
