I like Leonardo because he can boost Stray's effectiveness. Her biggest assets are Stray and 9 life so that's what that Ninja build is trying to do.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Catwoman *1*)
Starfire and Thing can, but both are class restricted and wouldn’t fit here.
Raven and an unnamed design in the Sanctum both like figures that walk around wounded. That Sanctum one could be really interesting, actually. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Pod Up
Pod builds. Does the build like to pod up in one place? Vertigo is a solid defensive figure for that. There's probably some broader figures but Vertigo is at his best in a pod especially one with figures weak to SAs.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Count Vertigo)
Vertigo is nasty on skyscrapers! Flying denial can matter very little on some maps and feel straight up broken on some others. Nasty lil fellow.
Probably the most oddball inclusion in the World's Finest set, but I really like how he set the table for our mix of household names and more obscure characters going forward. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Count Vertigo)
The Count is great. Haven't played him in years, either. Should remedy that. He definitely an annoyance to your opponent, but it's one they have to deal with in many cases, especially if they use primarily special attacks.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Count Vertigo)
Yeah, he's interestingly a bit of a counter-counter (count?) because so many defensive powers deny normal attacks but are vulnerable to special attacks. Here, he can cover that weakness.
Though it's notable that a lot of area effect special attacks can get around his trick by choosing spaces rather than targeting figures. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Count Vertigo)
I would be interested in some ideas for what types of pods work best for him. He's a flying figure, so he doesn't benefit from human pod-bus, Green Lantern John Stewart. He also doesn't have much in the way of left box synergies (though Metahuman Synergy starting to become a thing in unreleased units).
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Count Vertigo)
One way I learned to cut through him is with the leap special power. It cuts right through "Nullify". Lots of units use leaping in place of flying. With his weak defense a heavy hitter can leap up to him and cut him down to size.
He effectiveness really depends on the map you play with. If the map has a very high single hex that he and perch on, then he is quite effective at shutting down the board. Last edited by GamerHusband; October 29th, 2020 at 02:44 PM. |

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Count Vertigo)
Fwiw, there's some discussion of changing that, but it's in the hands of the powers that be right now!

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Count Vertigo)
There was a hot minute in the early days of C3G where we thought this guy might be overpowered, but subsequent heavy hitters have brought him back down to Earth!
He's definitely a shark, where you want to activate him frequently and let him go to town offensively. The Omega Effect is tempting, but seems to backfire about as often as it helps you, so the more competitive play unless a special attack is really needed is to try to engage with Imposing Presence and wail away. That Move of 4 keeps him in check and forces him to use the special attack more than he might like to otherwise, but flying helps. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
