Re: Disney to buy Marvel
I really don't see why people think this matters so much. Did ABC or ESPN's content get worse or at all Disneyfied when Disney bought them? If anything, I'd say ABC's programing is the best of any network right now and ESPN has just gotten better with their programming over the years.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: Disney to buy Marvel
Considering all the preexisting contracts, though, I don't think Disney can even produce a Marvel movie starring any of their major characters until something like 15 years from now anyway.
And Disney movies and TV shows don't suck because they took good material and ruined it. They suck because the material sucks. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: Disney to buy Marvel
Disney doesn't need to produce their own Marvel movies. Buying Marvel includes buying Marvel Studios, which will just go on making its own movies in just the way they'd been planning to. I believe Marvel Studio's current slate (Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, The Avengers) will keep them occupied well into 2012.
As far as the movie side of the deal goes, I'm not that worried. Look at what happened to Pixar after Disney bought it - nothing, or at least nothing that the public could notice from the resulting movies. Wall-E and Up were pretty much the same kind of quality, all-ages entertainment that Pixar was known for before Disney bought them. If anything, Pixar has changed Disney more than the other way around, since it was John Lasseter and the others at Pixar that lobbied for the resurrection of Disney's 2D animation department, which is putting out Disney's first 2D cartoon feature (The Princess and The Frog) in years. |

Re: Disney to buy Marvel
If people only knew who the parent companies were for some product lines they would probably not even think twice about this...
Go look up the company Altria |

Not to worry. A little research shows this chain of events: In 1988, Philip Morris (renamed Altria) purchased Kraft, and in 2000 it integrated the purchase of Nabisco into Kraft. Altria sold a small stake to the public in 2001, but maintained majority control until 2007, when the company was completely spun off as an independent company once again. So no need to worry about your Mac n Cheese! It's only a flesh wound! In Search of the Holy Grail |
