All Trees of Life replaced with Trees of Death and a couple of Uprooted Trees placed on the map.

Not a whole lot of action during the first round. Both Hulks hurl Trees of Death at each other which turn into Uprooted Trees. Hulk2 deals one wound to Hulk1. The Uprooted Trees are working well at blocking paths. In round two Hulk2 and Spidey2 tag team Hulk1 and take him out. No Trees thrown this round. Round Hulk1 falls, the Uprooted Trees are making it tricky to maneuver, not wanting to potential land on a space that could be hit by a falling tree. After a long back and forth, Spidey2 takes down Spidey1.

Winning Team: Team 2 Spider-Man(OG) with 1 life remaining.

First round, Hulk2 throws a Tree of Death that immediately turns into an Uprooted Tree and destroys another Tree of Death. Hulk1 throws an Uprooted Tree and deals one wound to Hulk2. Spidey2 Web Slings Hulk1 next to a Tree of Death and hits him hard. Hulk2 takes a turn and throws an Uprooted Tree taking Hulk1 out then jumps to a Great Evergreen tree and smashes it dealing 1 wound to Spidey1. In Round 2 Spidey1 Web Slings Hulk2 next to a Tree of Death and with height advantage hits him for 3 wounds. Spidey2 throws an Uprooted Tree at Spidey1 but deals no damage. Spidey1 takes down Hulk2 and chunks an Uprooted Tree at Spidey2 dealing a wound. Spidey2 hurls the Uprooted Tree back at Spidey1 taking him down and winning the game.

Winning Team: Team 2 Spider-Man(OG) with 3 life remaining.

THOUGHTS SO FAR: Just did a couple of mirrored army tests. The Uprooted Trees so far are a lot more useful with the optional throwing rules. They do however add some flavor to a normal game by blocking avenues of approach. They could really jam the map up for non-flying figures. Seeing as throwing takes place before or after a figures turn, the Tree of Death wording will need to change to work properly, easy fix though so not too worried.

The Uprooted Trees didn’t see a whole lot of action this game. They did however hinder Rocksteady’s movement. V***** was able to fly right over them, so obviously figures with flying have the advantage when these are on the battlefield.

Winning Team: Super V***** with 1 life remaining.

Much more useful in a game of throwing. Bebop and Rocksteady took every chance they got to throw something at V*****. It made for a very different game this time around. Instead of the Uprooted Tree hindering movement, they were just tossed at the enemy. I may make a change to consider them huge when replacing a tree. Right now they replace them immediately so they wouldn’t be considered huge which is kinda funky in my opinion.

Winning Team: Rocksteady with 5 life remaining.

They do well at deterring a figure from taking a certain path. The Hindering Terrain power is such a good touch and makes perfect sense. Owlman was kinda stuck at one point trying to decide which path to take, ultimately avoiding the Uprooted Tree in order to gain more ground. The same thing happened to Ben in the first round forcing him to take a longer path, he couldn’t make it up a level of elevation because an Uprooted Tree was in the way. They are working just as they should.

Winning Team: Superwoman with 3 life remaining and Owlman unwounded.

So the throwing rules really helped the FF4 get the upper hand here. Having Bag-man throw a huge tree instead of his normal attack was just the smart choice . He ended up destroying Superwoman with a big roll from a thrown tree. When using the throwing rules the hindering effect kinda loses its, well… effect. The Thing threw a couple of Uprooted Trees this game, landing a few wounds before clobbering the Crime Syndicate.

Winning Team: Invisible Woman with 1 life remaining, The Thing with 3 life remaining, and Bombastic Bag-man and Mister Fantastic unwounded.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED DESTRUCTIBLE OBJECT: The Uprooted Tree is pretty simple and straight forward. The ability to throw trees is not the only thing they are good for, hindering movement and not cutting it off completely is really neat. I think they would be a nice touch to almost any map that uses trees. Not much else to say really, it’s a log.

You can't stand on them but with height 2 can you pass over them?

Ya know, I didn't play those first 2 games with the ability to move over them. I used them to block paths, I guess you technically could move over them, but I feel like it should cost you some move.

Look at you setting up my next question.

If you CAN move through it, it would already cost you since it has a height of two. similar to the walls of the bridge. You can cross over them but you have to climb over them first. But since you can't stop on the space above them and they aren't on the edge of a tile like the battlements and bridge walls..I don't know if you CAN.


If you CANNOT move through them for some rules reason I do not know of...then you can add this as a second power.

You could make a wreckage DO that would replace a destroyed parked car for instance and it can have this power. You can still move through that space but you have to go slower.

Dude, that's a freakin awesome idea. I really dig that and it's super reusable. Thank you for this japes, I'll add that to the SP and test it in my next playtest with these.
