Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?
Flew back from a vacation yesterday and saw Jupiter Ascending on the plane.
Dear Lord, what a pile of crap that was. I remember hearing about that one going into production and being excited about what the Wachowski's would make. Just bad idea after bad idea in that movie. So many of the tech gadgets and ideas were completely stupid in their function and appearance. Lots of times movies like this have things that don't make sense but look cool. This had dumb stuff that looked ridiculous. And don't mention the dialogue... Dignan's Maps - Dignan's Multiplayer Maps

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?
Watched the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. There were some parts of it I liked and some parts of it that were just stupid. It still irks me that they are now 7' tall and super-strong. It ended up hurting the movie as they had to then increase the threat level of their opponents to compensate, which went poorly. The entire foot clan carried and used fully automatic machine guns all the time since they couldn't ever hope to go toe to toe with the giant ninjas. So then they had to make the turtles bulletproof which lead to the turtles just standing around while getting shot instead of doing ninja stuff. Shredder was then a guy in a giant robot suit too or would never had stood a chance.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?
Saw Jurassic World last night. The movie was terrible. The movie visuals were pretty spectacular. I think I'd have been happier going in rooting for the big bad dino and deciding I was watching a tragedy. None of the human characters made any sense as real people.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?
I broke down and watched Transformers: Age of Extinction. At least my kids were old enough to realize it was bad, and we were able to give it a little bit of an MST3K treatment.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?
My family and I are working through all six Star Wars films in chronological order this week. This is the first time my daughter has ever seen them, but I thought I'd start prepping her for Episode 7 in December. I haven't actually watched them back to back to back before, so it's interesting to see the films as the events unfold.
Tonight, we finished Revenge of the Sith, which is my "favorite" of the prequels. These last three evenings, I have been reminded how bad some of the dialogue can be. I understand it's all meant to show how Anakin grew to power and fell and was redeemed and all that, but George Lucas does a horrible job at romance writing! Tomorrow, we start what I consider the "real" Star Wars (I saw what is now called Episode IV in the theater at age 4, so I grew up with the classic trilogy). |

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?
Too late for you now, Akden, but next time I want a Star Wars fix I'm going to try watching them in Machete order which sounds like it makes a lot of sense (IV, V, II, III, VI).

That order makes a lot of sense to me. Darth Maul is really the only thing you miss out on.
