Re: Project Pokemon: Scenarios/Maps Team
Two more Pallet Town Sea Cave Training Gyms:
(I don't know how well they're going to play, but I wanted to try something smaller with some height and character.) They are pretty similar, but one has shadow and the other has a larger lake area. In both, there is a single hex passageway from the outside water/shadow to the inner lake. |

Wild Onix Scenario Map Unofficial Contest
Quote:
Question: Do we want to use the Pallet Town Sea Cave Training Gyms for the Wild Onix Scenario? If we choose to make new maps, I'd like to restrict them to 1 Battle for the Underdark Master Set. Wild Onix Scenario Map Rules I'd like to get 4 or 5 submissions of these maps for us to vote on. Submission Guidelines: - use 1 Battle for the Underdark Master Set - 2x player start zones of 6 spaces each - 1x Wild Oniz start zone (2 spaces) - fairly well balanced (so neither Trainer has an edge) - only pictures right now--build instructions can come later - Pokemon glyphs/items are optional |

Re: Project Pokemon: Scenarios/Maps Team
I'm not sure about using either of these maps. Onix is usually found in tunnels that don't feature a lot of water.

Re: Project Pokemon: Scenarios/Maps Team
I've been meaning to post some maps I have for a Wild Onix scenario, but I wanted to put the scenario description into the .pdf file.
Here is Charder's original idea: Quote:
Quote:
150/10 + 10 = 25 (needed to capture) To capture Onix, we would roll the 20 sided die and add wounds (max 3) and Status modifiers. Regular Pokeball With no wounds, you couldn't capture Onix with a regular Pokeball. even rolling a 20 with +4 if Onix was paralyzed only makes 24 (and 25 is needed). Great Ball With no wounds and no Status Effects, you would need to roll a 20 to capture Onix (20 + 5 for Great Ball). If you can put 2 wounds on Onix and put Onix to sleep, you need to roll a 15 or greater (15 + 2 wounds + 5 Great Ball + 3 Asleep = 25). ONIX SCENARIO I suggest that we give each trainer 10 Great Balls, and make the goal of the scenario to capture the Wild Onix. Pokeballs are used instead of attacking, so on your turn you would have to decide whether to attack Onix, place a Status Effect on Onix, attack your opponent's Pokemon, or try to capture Onix. Any comments? |

Re: Project Pokemon: Scenarios/Maps Team
What happens after you capture him? The scenario is over? You add Onix to your Army? He goes into a pile of unused figures?

An angry wild Onix has been sighted causing damage inside the Pallet Town Sea Cave. Its tunneling is threatening the stability of the cave--and the seawater is injuring the wild Onix. Professor Oak wants to capture the Onix and release it in Mount Moon where it can be with more of its kind. He has asked two of his young trainers to go and capture the Onix. To assist them, he's allowing each trainer to borrow up to 6 of his Pokemon to battle with. As a reward for capturing the wild Onix, Professor Oak will give that trainer a rare Dratini to keep on his or her journey. Who can capture the wild Onix first and win the prize Dratini? Setup. Each player drafts up to 6 Pokemon totaling 300 points or less. Player 1 places his Trainer figure in the blue start zone. Player 2 places his Trainer figure in the green start zone. Place the Wild Onix on the yellow spaces. Trainer figures cannot move during the scenario. Follow the rules for campaign battling. Special rules Option 1 (2 players, no Game Master). Onix is considered to be a neutral figure. Neutral figure: Both players may place order markers on a neutral figure’s army card. Order Markers should be placed to either side of the neutral figure’s army card so that they are not accidentally revealed as the card changes hands throughout the game. When an order marker is revealed on a neutral figure, that player controls that figure for the duration of its turn. After that turn that figure becomes neutral and is not controlled by either player. While a figure is neutral all players treat it as an opponent’s figure. A neutral figure cannot pick up or activate any treasure glyphs, but like all figures, it can stand on a treasure glyph. Special rules Option 2 (2 players, 1 Game Master). The Game Master controls the wild Onix. Both players and the Game Master roll for initiative and battle like a 3 person battle. Victory conditions. A player wins when he or she has captured the wild Onix. If the wild Onix is destroyed, or all Pokemon belonging to both players have been destroyed, the game is over and neither player wins. |

Made a few more changes:
Pallet Town Sea Cave Training Gym #8 The caves underneath are wider now, there is a solid passageway from one start zone to the other, and the water passageway goes almost from one side of the board to the other. |

Re: Project Pokemon: Scenarios/Maps Team
So here is what we have for the Onix scenario right now:
Wild Onix Scenario Uses 1 BftU Master Set An angry wild Onix has been sighted causing damage inside the Pallet Town Sea Cave. Its tunneling is threatening the stability of the cave--and the seawater is injuring the wild Onix. Professor Oak wants to capture the Onix and release it in Mount Moon where it can be with more of its kind. He has asked two of his young trainers to go and capture the Onix. Place the Wild Onix on the yellow spaces. Trainer figures cannot move during the scenario. Follow the Pokescape rules for 1-on-1 battling. 1-on-1 Battling
Spoiler Alert!
Capturing Pokemon Each player starts with 10 Great Balls. Great Balls add 5 to your 20-sided dice roll when trying to capture a Pokemon. On a player's turn, after revealing an Order Marker on a figure, instead of taking a turn with that figure you may instead try to capture the wild Onix. The wild Onix can be anywhere on the map. First, discard a Great Ball item. Then roll the 20-sided die and add 5 for the Great Ball bonus and add any other bonuses for wounds and Status Effects on the wild Onix. If your roll is greater than or equal to the required catch number you capture the wild Onix. If your roll is less than required, the Great Ball breaks and fails to capture the Pokemon. Formula for catching wild Pokemon:

Special rules Option 1 (2 players, no Game Master) Onix is considered to be a neutral figure. Victory conditions A player wins when he or she has captured the wild Onix. If the wild Onix is destroyed, or all Pokemon belonging to both players have been destroyed, the game is over and neither player wins. ----------------------------------------------------- Any comments? We still need 1 or 2 more Onix Scenario maps to playtest.
