Spoiler Alert!

Round 1: The speedsters move up, as do Black Canary, Batman, and Robin. Green Arrow manages to shoot 2 wounds onto Jay Garrick. Barry puts 3 wounds onto Black Canary.

Round 2: Robin takes out Jay Garrick. Barry takes out Black Canary and wounds Robin. Barry wounds Robin. Max takes out Robin. Batman couldn’t hit either Speedster this round.

Round 3: Batman puts 2 wounds on Barry. Barry runs from Batman and puts 3 wounds on Green Arrow. Batman wounds Max. Barry takes out Green Arrow. Batman takes out Max with a lucky roll. Barry is blocked.

Round 4: Batman takes out Barry.


Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Batman (0 wounds) wins.

Max’s Zen Master of Speed prevented Green Arrow from lowering the speedster’s defense, which was handy to keep Barry from being a target. But he didn’t offer much beyond that.

Spoiler Alert!

Round 1: Professor X moves the mutants out. Max prevents the defense reduction from Dazzler’s dazzle markers and Wolverine’s claws, which is really handy. Wolverine wounds Max and Barry puts 2 wounds on Dazzler.

Round 2: Barry puts a third wound on Dazzler. Blob wounds Kid Flash. Barry takes out Dazzler then wounds Blob, who can’t lock him down thanks to Max’s aura. Blob takes a disengagement wound to engage Max and deal him 2 wounds. Barry wounds Blob. Wolverine and Blob can’t touch Max.

Round 3: Barry wounds Blob. Wolverine and Blob can’t touch Max. Barry takes out Blob. Wolverine fails. Barry wounds Wolverine. Wolverine fails.

Round 4: Barry wounds Wolverine. Wolverine fails. Barry puts 5 wounds on Wolverine. Wolverine kills Max then can finally use his adamantium claws to reduce defense, so he turns his claws to Barry (though Jay is still boosting his defense), dealing him a wound. Barry takes out Wolverine. Professor X wheels up.

Round 5: Barry attacks Professor X, who burns the X for defense. Professor X fails. Barry puts 2 wounds on Professor X. Professor X fails. Barry sends the Professor back to class.

This was a custom built army to get the most out of Max’s abilities, and it showed. Preventing the defense drops from Wolverine and Dazzler plus preventing Blob’s Stuck was huge this game. Didn’t expect this speedster army to work so well which was a pleasant surprise.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Really fun boost to the speedsters, this was the first time I felt an all-Speedster army really worked well. He’s got pretty minimal impact against an average army, but against an army that relies on reducing defense and locking figures down, Max can be a gamechanger. Pretty balanced as is in my opinion.

Thanks for the games, Archie! Looking good to press on at 190 to me. Maybe a points bump if we see him dunk on the X-Men again - might be a good thing for a third tester to focus on.

Personally I'm not too concerned about the dunk on the X-Men, as Max basically took away all their powers. I originally had a more traditional X-Men army built then I realized Max wouldn't be doing anything against that build, so I switched the army to maximize Max's effect.
