Re: Google Chrome
Today was the first I'd heard of Chrome, from some small blurb in the paper.
What is it that Chrome brings to the table that would make anyone want to switch over? |

Re: Google Chrome
I have IE, Firefox, Safari, and now Chrome thanks to my need of having different browser options, and certain applications I need only run in certain browsers.

Yahoo is a website, not a browser.

Re: Google Chrome
Just heard on NPR that if one tab freezes up, you'll still be able to work in the others. Might be worth getting.

So what's this Chrome thing like anyway? Although so far I like the whole "If one tab freezes the rest don't" but is there anything else? Linkin park is the 21st century version of Led Zepplin. Map thread http://tinyurl.com/5sj532 (don't worry it doesn't link to porn) |

Re: Google Chrome
Ok I downloaded Chrome (using it right now) and it's decently fast, on par with Fire Fox. One thing that I do like though is the fact that you don't have to go to Ask or Google every time you need to search something. So lets say you wanna look up Heroscape on Google (hey when in Rome right?) you can just type it in the search bar.
Another pretty cool feature is that every time you open up a new tab there will be a page that shows what websites you visit the most. Probably the worst thing I have to say about this is that it looks TERRIBLE when full screened. Also, I have Windows XP and it doesn't look like it was designed for Vista. So functionality: 9.5 It has everything you need and works great, but, theres no File, Edit etc. menu. Aesthetics: 7 mainly because it was designed for Windows and I have XP (lol if you look at XP sideways it looks like a constipated guy sorry just noticed that) So all in all I say you should try it, if you don't like it Un-install it and no harm done. Re: Google Chrome
Well the one box thing helps really lazy people.
I personally prefer Firefox since after 20 minutes after I posted that review I got sick of how it looked. Linkin park is the 21st century version of Led Zepplin. Map thread http://tinyurl.com/5sj532 (don't worry it doesn't link to porn) |

Re: Google Chrome
One of the things it said in the comic book was that it keeps processes separated. It's advanced tabbed browsing. As per the comic java script will slow everything on other tabs down until it is done loading. If there is a problem with the script it often requires closing the browser because of the one tab. Chrome keeps the processes separate so when one fails you can just close the one tab and be done with the problem rather than closing the whole program. To most people it won't seem like a big deal. For others it's a big step forward.
As far as IE, the more serious contenders IE has will make them actually make a browser that works, and websites will have to start going away from pages optimized for IE. I think the single biggest plus is that it has the name google attached. People who haven't dropped IE for firefox will theoretically be more likely to switch to Chrome. Since Firefox and Chrome will both be open source it will also mean Firefox could get better as a result. So, yeah, I think this is a pretty big deal. EDIT: Now that I've tried it a bit, the search box thing is actually an all in one search box and address box. You can type in a web address and/or a search query.
