I feel I justified my change rather than it being willy-nilly. Are you citing any actually codified procedural rules here or just your personal standards?

Personal. MrNobody makes the rules here.

Changing your vote based on someone else's vote just seems wrong, as does putting conditions on your vote. Vote for what you want and leave it at that.
