Smashing Ape is a cool power. Definitely feels like he's crashing around and even if you're tough enough to take it, those in the proximity of the attack might take the brunt.

I dig it man! I think Invader is a good choice for the class here. Agreed that a higher attack and lower life feels more correct on this dude. Seriously loving the tail weakness power, figures with the Swordplay special power should roll one additional attack die

I think the only thing it's missing is the Mouth Energy Wave, but I like the power set you have so I'm pretty content here.

Yeah, the Mouth Energy Wave would be cool. If we wanted to add that, we could make the base Range 5-6 and the Attack 5, then add a line here like this.

SMASHING APE
Great Ape may move through and never takes leaving engagement attacks from figures that are not huge. When attacking an adjacent figure, add 2 to this Great Ape's Attack number. After attacking with this Great Ape's normal attack, if it did not inflict any wounds on the defending figure, roll an unblockable attack die against each figure adjacent to the defending figure except for this Great Ape.

Smashing Ape already feels like 2 separate powers and that basically makes it feel even more that way.

Another option if we want the mouth beam is adding a 4th power that does that. Or we could just leave it off entirely and let the Apes be all melee.

Unsure on the theme if he needs range or not. An alternative is to just up his move, he's a giant monkey so I wouldn't think 6-7 move spaces is out of the question. That'd increase his threat range.

As for the Energy Wave, I'd either do away with the once per round or add some sort of effect to make it more worth the once per round clarifier. Like maybe blanks or shields as skulls or roll extra dice for something rolled (skulls, shields, blanks). Otherwise, I'd worry that it wouldn't really get used all that much but I do dig the idea of it. Would definitely consider at least 6 move here though especially since they don't have flying or a leap power.
