Re: C3G Promotions Dept. | C3G 2.0 Interview!
Part of the idea is that like if you want to keep track of something with markers / notepad / trained mice more power to ya. You dont need permission to do that.
But the game system itself doesn't need that for pure memory mechanics. So spelling out stuff like that doesnt really do much beyond make powers long and harder to parse. Re: C3G Promotions Dept. | C3G 2.0 Interview!
Markers definitely aren't gone. But we're generally no longer referring to the color of the marker, and will not have printouts of a marker, so people can use whatever token they want to represent that marker. 2.0 is meant to be a lot more proxy-friendly in that regard (same logic as letting people use whatever miniature they want).
The ordering of the stats was a big discussion in the group, for sure. There were arguments for many differing layouts, but we voted and ultimately the current ordering won out. It became straightforward after one game, to me at least - I thought it would take longer for my brain to get used to it. |

Stat quibbles aside, yes, the layout is crisp and trimming the legalese is nice. I'm sure concerns about symbol glut have been addressed and hopefully followed. It'd be swell if more than 2 of these could fit on a page (I have never once even tried to cut out the traditional Heroscape card shape). The only thing I minorly dislike is the character art section seems a bit smaller now, or rather, the leftbox details is covering up half of it.

I have somewhat mixed feelings (mostly positive) about the lack of a printout. On the one hand, that makes printing the cards easier since you don't have to worry about overlap, as well as the previously mentioned proxy-friendliness. On the other, I liked how unique the designs of the markers themselves could look and will miss that. Not a big loss, but I'm sentimental like that. |

I'd expect Battery Markers and certain specific Markers like Halo's will still reference their color, yeah.

Yeah, 99% sure the write up I did for Halo 2.0 references color.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Reposting this here for maximum exposure:
If you've been holding off on an LD, now's the time! C3G is officially winding down production of our first edition! It's been a great ride (1521 cards and counting) but all good things must come to an end! For more on the plans involved in our second edition (aka C3G 2.0) please see the posts here. In order to make this transition, we need to start moving our resources fully to 2.0. That means 1.0 needs an end point. To that end, April 1st, Saturday, is the official cut off date for starting any new 1.0 LDs and all 1.0 LDs should either be in Final Editing by May 15th or they will be converted into 2.0 LDs. The current points system will operate the same in 2.0 As for 2.0 production and how you can be involved, for active allies there should be some opportunities coming up in the next few months. In the meantime, keep an eye out as we empty the 1.0 library to y'all over the next few months! Please post any questions you have here or anywhere else appropriate and thanks for sticking with us! Long live C3G  C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
