Re: Painted Innistrad?
Just posted this in the Painting and Modification and Display Thread. Should have maybe checked here first, but I'll post them again. I finished my set last night, so good timing.
Spoiler Alert!
Green:
Spoiler Alert!
Kessig Ravagers
Ended up a lot more white then I intended, but I like the final result. I promise the guy on the left isn't quite so buck-toothed in-person.
Kessig Rangers
Fun pair. Tons going on in the sculpts. I ended up simplifying them a lot, and it was still a lot of work, but the fun kind. I think they turned out okay.
White:
Spoiler Alert!
Avacynian Inquisitors
Really fun to paint. Great sculpts, simple color scheme, but good-looking results, IMO.
Avacyn
She also had a really simple color scheme in her art, and I decided to go with that for the mini. It's nothing complicated, but I think it ended up looking pretty good and like the simplicity in the end.
Black:
Spoiler Alert!
Skirsdag Cultists
Fun to paint, great sculpts. My only issue with them is that the color scheme that I chose (based off the card art) is very similar to the Inquisitors. They're easily told apart on the field because of their bases, but part of me wishes I'd thought about the two squads in advance a bit more to differentiate between them more.
Ghoul Vanguard
Again based the color scheme off the card, but maybe a bit too much, cause it ended up being a bit of a color fest. I think I should have simplified a bit cause there's so much going on already, and I didn't really draw out the important bits. But it's not too bad, I think.
Red:
Spoiler Alert!
Vampire Nobles
Again, fun to paint. I really enjoyed doing this squad. Like the others, the card had a a great color scheme to follow, so it was simple fun.
Mad Prophet
The theme of this set, if you can't tell, was simple, fun schemes. Same with the prophet. Nothing too difficult, but I think it ended up looking pretty good.
Blue:
Spoiler Alert!
Lantern Geists
I again tried to keep the translucency going on these guys. Didn't succeed quite as well as I'd hoped, but you can still see light shining through them if it's bight enough, so I'm pretty happy with the result. Plus I think the darker colors give them a bit more of a haunted feel.
Necro-Alchemist
Probably the guy I was looking forward to painting the most. I think he ended up pretty cool, if not, again, simple. But simple is good, and I like him.
