Re: C3G Faction Strategy Guides

Suicide Squad Faction Strategy

Important Links
Overview
The Suicide Squad is a faction led by Amanda Waller. There's not much synergy among the group besides what Waller provides, so Suicide Squad builds involve choosing a mix of various villains.

The Suicide Squad is high-offense, with Waller offering bonding turns to figures that normally don't bond, and giving them +1 Attack on a chosen figure in addition to that. To balance that, the Suicide Squad has an element of risk - there's always a chance of them turning traitor, and you having to blow up your own figures or lose them to the enemy.

Unlike a lot of factions, the Suicide Squad has a ton of overlap with non-thematic figures such as anything from Marvel. It's perfectly doable to make a fully thematic DC-only Suicide Squad build including all the movie characters, and that's an army I'd feel comfortable playtesting with. But this guide will mainly take a look at the most competitive figures, regardless of theme or publisher, as excluding the Marvel figures from this guide limits several powerful and fun interactions. That said, several thematic armies will also be included in the suggested armies.

Leaders
Both Amanda Waller and Rick Flag Jr. are essential in any Suicide Squad build. Waller is the core of the synergy, and Flag's boosts make the army competitive.
  • Amanda Waller (195) - Waller gets all your Order Markers every round, and will stay in the back of the start zone until the endgame. You'll want to send your figures after whichever enemy figure you chose for Special Assignment. If your Suicide Squad members would switch sides, don't hesitate to blow them up with the "X" Order Marker - that's better than giving control of them to your opponent!
  • Rick Flag Jr. (105) - Flag will want to stay within 5 spaces of your Suicide Squad members, so that they have no chance of turning sides until he's killed thanks to his d20 boost. His movement bonding is especially handy to keep your villains together. Once Flag is killed, you're relying on a lucky d20 that your own figures don't turn on you.

Tailored Inclusions
There are a wide variety of figures that work with the Suicide Squad, and you can really put together any mix of figures to make a usable army. Try to include some variety, so you get melee, range, a special attack, an autowound power, etc. These are some of the best additions to a Suicide Squad build.
  • Bane (190) - Strong melee bruiser and Tactician allows him to play support for your other figures. Rick Flag makes keeping your ranged figures adjacent to him easy.
  • Black Tom Cassidy (160) - Allows you to turn himself and another Outcast into Criminals at the start of the game, bringing tons of figures to the faction. He's reasonably cheap and provides a special attack as well.
  • Captain Cold (I) (90) - Disrupts enemy movement for cheap with his Frozen Molecular Field, and he has a swingy special attack.
  • Count Vertigo (160) - Disrupts enemy range, flying ability, and special attack use. Place him near enemies then activate your other, stronger figures.
  • Deadshot (150) - Long-ranged sniper. Move him up with Rick then snipe enemies from afar. Don't bother with height if that would put him into melee range, keeping your distance is more important.
  • Doctor Octopus (I) (215) - Doc Ock benefits more than the average figure from Waller's attack boost, since he gets 4 normal attacks per turn. Plus, Cyber Claw helps keep your other figures safe.
  • Duploids (100) - The Duploids are a squad that have synergy with Criminals. If you are using a Criminal with an "after moving" or "before attacking" power (such as Parasite), you can skip that figure's attack and take a full turn with this self replicating squad.
  • Enchantress (June Moone) (280) - Powerful spellcaster who can heal allies or give enemies autowounds, depending on which side her card is flipped to.
  • Killer Croc (I) (200) - Melee beatstick, with autowound and lockdown powers.
  • Killer Croc (II) (220) - Melee beatstick with a protection power, handy to place next to more fragile teammates.
  • Plunder (165) - Long-ranged sniper. He gets two attacks thanks to Trigger Man, and with the attack boosts from Waller, Bounty Hunter, Bane's Tactician, height, etc. you can boost Plunder's Attack number into silly levels.
  • Ragdoll (100) - He moves up for free and acts as an annoyance for enemies. Plop him next to an enemy then activate your other, more powerful figures. Easy 100-point add-on to any of the below armies.
  • Shocker (160) - Short-ranged double attack for cheap, with some knockback attached. Also has a pretty decent special attack.
  • Vulture (90) - Very powerful Suicide Squad addition, with the ability to move friendly figures up and move enemies to low ground with his Vulture Grab. Consider Vulture an essential if you're looking for the most competitive army.
  • Weather Wizard (I) (100) - Strong special attack and two useful support abilities. Easy 100-point add-on to any of the below armies.

The Agents
While Waller offers double turns to the villain classes, she can also activate one Agent card a turn, and the Agents help prevent nearby villains from turning sides, assuming Rick Flag is alive. Therefore several Agents can be a useful, heroic addition to a Suicide Squad build.
  • Nemesis (Tom Tresser) (125) - If you're bringing in common Agents, Nemesis can be handy with his Scales of Justice giving him a reasonably cheap double attack of 4. But he's very fragile.
  • Nightshade (225) - Teleports your figures forward. Especially useful on maps with large height differentials from castle or skyscrapers.
  • Scarlet Spiders (150) - A defensive squad of Agents is a perfect way to keep your Suicide Squad members near an Agent while still letting them spread out. The Scarlet Spiders can also function as ranged fliers to an extent.
  • Skrull Infiltrator (10) - Very handy filler to keep enemies locked down and to keep your Suicide Squad members within 5 spaces of an Agent.
  • Abigail Brand (170) - Can turn a non-Human into an Agent each round, allowing a Suicide Squad member to also become an Agent.
