Every Tuesday I go to Dignan's house to play Heroscape. Here's what happened...
The Players:
Me/DrLivingston--I do alright but I was a little nervous since it been so long since I played.
Dignan--I'd seen Dignan play a few times before and knew he had "mad skillz". Still I'd never actually played with him, so I didn't really know what to expect.
Dignan's Wife--Nice lady. Forgave me for tracking dog **** all over her house. Still amazed she married Dignan (but he is supposedly a great dancer--winner of many "dance offs". Ask him about it sometime. Preferably not in a car on the way home from Arlington when there's no escape...) She made me promise not to make fun of how she did tonight.
Our first gig was No Sleep 'til Brooklyn by the Beastie Boys. I rocked out on guitar (I was on easy because it had been a while since I played) and ended with a ninety something performance overall.
Woo Hoo!
Dignan did more than alright on drums, also scoring in the nineties--I think he was on medium.
Poor Dignan's wife had never even heard of the song--I think she was 6 when it came out. (Made me feel a bit old.) Dignan said, "tough luck, it's our first gig and you gotta learn it."
So she sang it.
Anyway, she made me promise, so that's all I can say about that.
Our next song was About a Girl by Nirvana, and Dignan's wife found her voice here.
My guitar play was exceptional (admittedly only on easy), and I found myself wishing I'd gone for a higher level. Especially when it was time to divvy up the money from the gig. I got way less cash even though I had performed the best overall.
What crap.
As were finishing up, Podwest and R˙chean walked in. Podwest was excited (as was I) to see Guitar Hero World Tour.
R˙chean was much less pleased.
"I can't play this game at all. I can almost watch people play it."
Anyway, next week I am definitely upping the skill level to grab more cash.
Hopefully Dignan's wife will recognize some songs at our next gig...(or at least not make me promise not to make fun of her------wait I'm checking the double negative thing...No, I think that's right.
Wait I just said, "No" again.
