naps420's Map Thread (Edited 1/18/2017)

Here is a new map I made called Falls of Loric. Uses 2 MS, 2 RttFF, and 1 FotA. I used some personal water tiles I made just to give the map more of a waterfall look, but it can still be made normally. The map has a scenerio to it for a 5 player game. Player 1 (cyan) controls the top of the falls and is the only player allowed to draft flying armies. This player must protect the Water Orb (Glyph of Brandar) at the top of the falls. Players 2 and 3 (Red/Green) and Players 4 and 5 (Blue/Yellow) are after the Orbs. If player 1 can hold the orb for 15 rounds or Players 2-5 are defeated, he wins (even if all his figures are destroyed).

Fountain of Yothgun

Map Requirements: 4 MS, 6 RttFF, 3 FotA, 1 Glyph of Lodin.

Ancient text talks about how the fountain is one of many magical locations in the area and that this one is said to revive those who have fallen on the battlefield, even those of your enimies. Now that the fountain has been discovered, everyone wants to control the fountain and 6 armies close ino on taking control of it.

Here is a map my buddy Bob built. It uses 2 MS, 1 RttFF, 1 FotA, 4 Double Snow tiles, a handfull of extra double/singles from various packages. The map currently has no name (most he builds have yet to be named)

Here is one of the starting areas. I know he originally attended this map for a 2 vs. 2 or 3 vs. 3 game and told me the starting area was any on the Rock pieces shown in this pic.

Amazing work! Keep the maps coming. :)

Creypod Mountain

This is a project I've slowly been working on using VituralScape. I doubt this would EVER be made for a real game  as it uses 146 MS, 28 RttFF, and 24 FotA sets. It uses 4,594 tiles, and the heighest level is 44 tall. I also used personal tiles to make the Waterfall effects, but im sure if someone were to build this with 146 MS, they should have enough water to do the same effect

Background:
Creypod Mountian, one of the hieghest mountains in the region, also a boarder between two kingdoms who are readying for war over stolen relics. Each of the king's have started pointing his finger towards the other kingdom as the one responsable for the theft of their royal relics. Each kingdom had two magical relics, what they once were used for were lost over ages, and now are just special treasures to their king. Little did the kings know, but neither were truely responsable, as a band of rogue mercinaries have been behind the theft of all four of the royal relics. It is said in old tomes that the four relics are keys, which when placed around the Shrine of Dargooth at the top of Creypod Mountain, will summon Dargooth. Durgooth will then gran a wish and then vanish, not being able to be summoned again for 300 years. The leader of the rogue band discovered this and planed all the events. With the relics now in his hands at the top of the mountain he prepairs to get everything underway. Both kingdoms set out over the mountains to assault the other. As the armies start up the mountain, the scouts sent out before hand return with talk of a small army at the shrine atop the mountain. Both kingdoms rush up along the roadways that lead to the shrine as the leader of the rogue band reads he must yell out his wish, then start the ritual. So he stands and raises his arms into the sky, and makes his wish. He booms out to the sky that he wishes that both kingdom's be utterly destoryed and ripped from the land and starts the ritual. The two kingdom's armies reach within sight of the outter boarder keeps that are used to help defend the lands from attack as the sky begines to turn blood red and a small vortex can be seen starting to open above the shrine. The leader grins as he finishes the ritual, knowing only a short time is needed for Dorgooth to come and destory them both. Little does he know, that if the relics are all grabbed up before it opens up, the vortex will seal for another 300 years.

Start Zones:
Team 1 (Player 1 and 2)
Red: 800 Point Army
Green: 800 Point Army
Team 2 (Player 3 and 4)
Blue: 800 Point Army
Yellow: 800 Point Army
Player 5
Cyan: 1,200 Point Army

Special Rules
Team 1 and 2 are restricted to no-flyers during drafting. Player 5 is the only player allowed to start the scenerio with flying armies under his command.

Victory Conditions:
Team 1 and 2 have 30 Rounds to capture all 4 Relics (Glyphs of Brandar) at the shrine at the top of the mountain. A team must end the round with one figure on each glyph in order to win the scenerio.

Player 5 must protect the Relics from the two teams. The player wins the scenerio if teams 1 and 2 are defeated or if by the end of round 30, no team has control of all 4 Relics (Even if Player 5 has no armies left in play).

Fountain of Kelda

This map was made using 1 MS and 1 RttFF. The glyph of kelda acts as a permanent glyph for this scenerio. Once a hero is healed, place that figure in any of the water tiles surrounding it. Red player starts off with less starting points, to compinsate the fact that they start next to the foundian. Red starts with 500 Points and Blue starts with 800 Points. Last player standing wins.

Smuggler's Den
This map uses 1 MS, 1 RttFF, and 1 FotA. Blue army has stolen some loot and the Red army is sent after to retrieve it. Red starts with 800 points and has 10 Rounds to claim the stolen loot. Blue must protect it for the 10 Rounds in order to win. They can also take the other player out to win.

SmugglersDen.jpg

------------------------------------------------------------------

This map is still unnamed. It uses 1 MS and 1 TT. 4 Random Permanent Glyphs are placed on the unknown glyph spots. The glyph of brandar are documents. Red player starts with 800 Points and has to reclaim the documents in 12 Rounds. Blue player starts with 500 Points and must protect the documents.

2-20-07RH01.jpg

------------------------------------------------------------------

This map is also still unnamed. It uses 2 MS, 2 RttFF, 2 FotA. Two teams, Red/Green vs. Blue/Yellow, each one is trying to caputre the other's flag. First one to either defeat the other army or take the other army's flag, wins the scenerio.

RH2-20-0702.jpg

------------------------------------------------------------------

This map is another not named (I am running out of ideas for names ) It uses 2 MS and 2 VW. It uses a special attack called "Push", 6 random permanent glyphs, and the glyph of brandar summons Obsidian Guards (Each player starts with them, but they do not start in the game). Even once one of them are destroyed, you can summon him back in later.

Push Special Attack
Range: 1 Attack: 2 (Special)
You may roll 2 attack dice against the target. If you roll 2 skulls on the dice, you push your target into the lava. If the defender is smaller in size then the attacker, it does not get to defend and is pushed into the lava. If the defender is the same size as the attacker, the defender rolls normal defense and must roll at least 2 shields or is pushed into the lava.. You may not use this attack on a figure that is larger then your attacker.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is another map with no name at the moment. This one uses only 1 MS. I placed the glyphs of Erland, Kelda, and Mitonsoul around the board to add some spice to it. Each player would start with 700 Points.

Holy crap man, these have to be some of the best maps I have ever seen!! I absolutely am loving them! The rises and falls in height look natural, these maps are just popping off the screen at me! Great job man, keep 'em coming!

Dude, calm down. There is no reason to be making so many great maps so rapidly (you churn out three faster than we can play one). Go outside or something.

This map uses 1 MS and 2 Vw.

King's Lookout

I just finished this map up a bit ago. I used 2 MS, 1 RttFF, 1 FotA, 4 double snow, and a handfull of double/single pieces from various expansions. I built this map with the thoughts of about an 800+ Point Battle. After building it though I noticed it's not very friendly for double spaced figures.

I rarely consider double-spaced figures when I build (except when I'm making stairs). It's a real pain in the ass.

The King's Lookout is the best yet. It's just plain cool.

Ruins of Kal-Turot

Requires: 2 MS, 2 RttFF, 1 FotA. Also uses the Glyphs of Lodin and Sturla.

Drafting: (1 vs. 1)
Red and Blue both start with a 30 hex starting zone.
Both players start with a 1,000 point army.

Drafting: (2 vs. 2)
Red and Blue both start with a 30 hex starting zone.
All players start with a 600 point army.

Special Rules:
If a figure is standing adjacent to a tree or ruin and is targeted by a normal ranged attack, he adds a +1 to his defense dice rolled. This modifer does not stack if adjacent to two trees or a tree and a ruin.

Optional Rules:
1 vs. 1 Game. Player's may draft an additional 500 points worth of reinforcements. At the start of Round 5, before Order Markers are placed, the players may roll a d20. If they roll an 18-20, their reinforcements are placed anywhere on thier own starting zone. Every round there after, if the player was unable to bring in their reinforcements, he may roll again. Every 2 Rounds, the chances get better by 2 (Round 7: 16-20, Round 9: 14-20, ect..) The player must still have army cards in play in order to continue to roll for reinforcements.

Victory Conditions:
Last player standing wins.

As you might have noticed, the setup for the castle is somewhat like the one I built for King's Lookout. I don't know why but I really liked the way it turned out so I started to put it into VirtualScape and tweaking it a bit here and there and then building the rest of the map around it. This is what I came up with.

I still to this day can not upload a map to the download section...I gotta be doing something wrong when I try. I do have both a .pdf and the .hsc files for any map I've built here and posted on this thread or others using VirtualScape. Feel free to send me a PM or hit me up through email or an IM service I have listed.

Road to the Forgotten Castle

Here is a map a friend of mine asked me to build for him. The map uses 6 MS, 4 VW, 4 RttFF, and 2 FotA. Him and a friend of his have been running a campaign type series of games. They needed a large map with a castle, a cavern, some ancient ruins, and a valcano area, with a tower or two placed somewhere close to the middle area. The also asked me to make sure it seemed like part of it was along a coast of a rather large lake. They asked me to use multiple Glyphs of Kelda and Erland and then 1 of each remaining Glyphs (Besides Brandar).

They needed a decent sized castle that could hold a decent size defending army (blue). At the time this map was built though, they were unsure how big the armies would be. The campaign is a points based game, and this here map is going to be the last battle map. All I knew while making it was they had 5 more games to play before this one, and that the current points were at 1,150 (Red) vs. 975 (Blue).

I asked him to send me pictures or post them online, so hopefully I'll be adding some real pictures of it soon.

Cravunt Bridge

I was trying to come up with a castle map for a scernario I am working on and stumbled onto an idea I had to run with. This map is built using 2 MS, 2 RttFF, and 2 FotA sets. I figured it would make a great 1 vs. 1, battle to the death map. 750+ Points an army.
