Character Bio - Spider-Man's identity is that of Takuya Yamashiro, a 22-year-old motocross racer. He has the ability to perceive threats from the Iron Cross Army with his Spider-Senses. He fights the Iron Cross Army in order to avenge his father's death. To conceal his superhero identity, Takuya acts as a weakling in front of his friends on purpose. As a result, Takuya gets chastised by his friends whenever he runs away from danger and is often compared unfavorably to Spider-Man. Moreover, his financial income as a motorcycle racer decreases after becoming Spider-Man due to his reduced participation in races, forcing him to assist Hitomi Sakuma in her job to pay for his expenses.

Takuya assumes the identity of Spider-Man when he dons the protective suit known as the Spider Protector. He is genetically altered as a result of the Spider-Extract injected into his body by Garia, gaining spider-like abilities such as sticking and climbing onto walls. Moreover, he can also detect the activities of nearby enemies with his Spider-Senses and his physical strength is greater than the average person. However, he has also inherited some of the same weaknesses actual spiders have, such as a strong sensitivity towards cold temperatures. - (Marvel Comics Fandom, 2021)

At the start of the game, if you drafted a vehicle named Leopardon, you may place Spider-Man on Leopardon's driver space. If you do, Leopardon does not start the game on the battlefield. Once per game, after revealing an Order Marker on the card of a Unique Ranger Hero or any Unique Hero you control with a Spider-Verse, Swing Line, or Web Swing special power and taking a turn with that Hero, you may place Leopardon on any empty spaces on the battlefield and immediately use his Arc Turn Strike special power.

SPIDER-VERSE: "I AM THE EMISSARY FROM HELL!"
When attacking normally with Spider-Man or a vehicle he is driving, the defending figure rolls one fewer defense die for each blank you rolled.

COMBAT FLIP 12
After moving normally, attacking, or defending with Spider-Man, he may use Combat Flip. Combat Flip has a move of 2. When moving with Combat Flip, Spider-Man has the Flying special power, but may not move up or down more than 12 levels in a single flip. When using Combat Flip, Spider-Man will not take any leaving engagement attacks.

Like I said before, the phonetic spelling is funny but he's 100% known as Spider-Man, so we should probably stick with that.


Change Leopardon is great. Him and Gwen allow for some big surprise attack moments, very Spider-Verse-y! I wonder if we could call the name something related to Marveller? Be cool to get that version a callout (Unless someone has plans to design Marveller itself). Super minor though.


Spider String is cool.


Also like I said before, kinda want Emissary to be a bit flashier. It's kind of a weird power and I don't really get much theme for it. I suggested before that we could have a big defense reduction to represent him catching people off guard when he yells it. If you don't dig the 3 marker approach that I pitched, we could simplify to this:

Once per game when Spider-Man or a Vehicle Spider-Man is piloting attacks an adjacent figure, the defending figure rolls 3 fewer defense dice.

Then it's a big flashy attack for either him or Leopardon.

Super cool to learn about the history of this character. Japan just had their own Spider-Man in the 70s and gave him a giant robot for some reason. It was neat to see him in the Ready Player One book.

I'd agree that it looks like he was simply known as Spider-Man, unless the Spider-Verse comics specifically call him Supaidaman.

Design looks solid. He's pretty reliant on other Spiders, but that fits, and the first power will make him a great pilot for Leopardon for the free chance to get two autowounds, plus immediately throwing him into the action.

Probably too confusing to just say "Spider-Man" to get someone's attention at a Spider-Verse party.

Once per game for 2 of his powers makes him much less exciting in my opinion, with the Emissary power I was going for a protective vengeance of other Spider-folk meets melee strength power (since it works when he's engaged). Open to other ideas but marker and/or once per game -3 defense is not doing it for me.

I did debate on a Marveller name for the first power, but Change Leopardon is what he says when it's summoned.

Something like this that riffs on Quack-Fu Fighting might be cool. Adding a flippy combat power is definitely interesting since he's the precursor to the Power Rangers.

That’s cool! Might not need the attack boost since he’ll easily be throwing a bunch of dice with height and UK’s boost. Just depends on what we want for cost here. Do we need a line about ignoring LEAs? Also misspelled “blank” the first time it’s stated.

Well ironically if you are lowering their defense, it means your attack is bad so I don't mind the higher attack, definitely want at least 4 with this power.
