Rules 1) 400 Point Armies (bring your own dice, order markers, and wound markers) 2) “Draft Pool” (650-750 points) Tournament How the Draft Pool Will Work:
Each player should bring between 650-750 points of army cards. You must have at least 4 different army cards of at least 25 points. You may not bring multiple of the same unique card (no two Raelins nor two Drakes of any kind) in your pool of figures brought. Once players are paired, the two of them place all of their units together in a communal pool. (You might want to either mark your cards or keep each player's cards in two piles right next to each other.) Each player rolls a 20-sided die, and the higher roller gets to decide which start zone they get or whether to pick first or second. The loser gets the remaining choice.
Then the draft begins: the person picking first will pick one card, and the person picking second will pick two; after that, each alternate picking one more card (1,2,1,1,1...). Your army may not exceed 400 points.
*As in the rulebook, common squads may be drafted one card at a time like everything else. (Please bring multiple cards for multiple squads.)
*If there are two of the exact same unique army card in the pool, each player may draft one, but the same unique may not be in the same army.
*All figures will be placed in the starting zones after both players have finished drafting.
*Please allow a few minutes for each player to familiarize his or herself with unfamiliar units before the draft begins, but after the draft begins, please move it along to maximize playing time: Aim for a 5 minute draft, which will allow ~45 minutes to play. 3) No Marvel, SoV, CuC and C3V figures. 4) Maps: Pleave select a map from the Battlefields of Valhalla list. If you want another in the pool, please send your request to me and I’ll review it to be admitted. We will obviously need 1 map for every two people attending, but if you’re attending please plan on bringing at least one map. I will update this with list of maps as people sign up for them. 5) Glyph Pool: We’re going to do glyphs slightly differently this year. Please provide your own glyphs for the map you made. You (the map bringer) pick the glyph pool for your map. If you do bring glyphs for your map, you may not have more than 1 of the same glyph in your pool. You may opt not to have any glyphs on your map. (Example: You may opt to only bring 2 different glyphs if that is the minimum amount needed for your map.) The glyph pool you choose must come from the list of glyphs below. Each opponent will be shown the glyphs before the game starts and they will be randomly chosen for their locations and put face down on the glyph locations. (If you choose to have glyphs, they must be placed where the map states they go)
Acceptable glyphs
-----Astrid (Attack +1)
-----Gerda (Defense +1)
-----Dagmar (+8 Initiative)
-----Wannok (Wound)
-----Valda (+2 Move)
-----Lodin (+1 D20)
-----Ulanlva (+1 Unique Attack)
-----Rannveig (Wind)
-----Crevcor (Common Attack +1)
6) Format ***NOTE: SCORING DIFFERENT THIS YEAR***(Based on the Super Simple System (SSS) for tourney management.)
-----50 Minute Timed Rounds (including draft) (I will try very hard to announce a 2 minute warning)(When time is called, finish the ROUND you were on, only if the first turn of the current round has been started)
-----Absolute (Fractional) Losing Score
-----Fractional Card Scoring
4 Swiss Rounds
Matches between players used to playing each other will be avoided in the 1st round only. Noone should play on the same map twice during the Swiss round, unless unavoidable.
Semifinals
The top 4 players will be ranked #1-#4 based on their final W/L then SoS, then losing points. The #1 player will play the #4 player and the #2 will play #3 in the Semifinals. However duplicate matches will be avoided if possible by switching the #3 and #4 players.
The higher seeded players will select the map.
Winners of this round advance to the Championship.
(All other players will play a 5th game Swiss Style)
Championship
2 Winners of the Semifinal match will play in the championship.
2 Losers of the Semifinal match will play in a 3rd place game.
The higher seeded player will select the map.
(All other players should tear down)
