My biggest reason against putting regeneration on a card is that it's going to end up unthematic unless you do something similar to the Phoenix chain and then that would prevent you from having any multi doctor adventures. And ultimately at some point you'll kill the doctor without a regeneration. From my perspective, I'm not sure it's worth it. I'm willing to talk, but it's gonna be finicky making it work thematically.

Would a big init boost at the cost of the X for the entire game that the enemy can do nothing about be balanced for a ~90 point figure?

Here's what I have for regeneration.

REGENERATE
You may draft this figure into the same army with any other Doctor figures that are not [THIS DOCTOR'S PERSONALITY]. Choose which figure will start the game on the battlefield. You can only control one Doctor figure on the battlefield at a time. If any Doctor you control is destroyed, you may switch that Doctor with another Doctor you control that has not been destroyed. Switched figures will not take any leaving engagement attacks.

So very similar to the Phoenix chain but I have it so you can choose what Doctor pops up next. I know that's slightly unthematic, but I think it'll be way more fun gameplay-wise to be able to draft whatever Doctors you want instead of having to stick to a direct order. (It'll also allow C3G to make the Doctors out of order and still have them playable/testable with one another.)

I guess I just don't see how it's any less thematic to have the Doctor die after regenerating multiple times vs having him defeated in one incarnation and then just be done for.

Usually multi-Doctor stories are rare events, so I've been thinking about how to work with that. Something like a Moment or special Time Lord figure you can draft that allows you to have multiple Docs on the field at the same time?

This looks to be a pretty good source of figures. Still a bit expensive unfortunately. Has C3G ever worked with minis that come unpainted?

If you want multi-Doc ability, why not make it optional?

You may draft this figure into the same army with any other Doctor figures that are not [THIS DOCTOR'S PERSONALITY]. If you do, you may place this Doctor on this card at the start of the game instead of on the battlefield. If another Doctor you control is destroyed and this Doctor has not yet been placed on the battlefield, you may switch that Doctor with this Doctor before destroying that Doctor.

Hmmm...personally I'm of the opinion it should usually be 1 Doctor at a time and multi-Doctor situations should be saved for scenarios or special cards that allow you to bend the rules of time, but what does everybody else think?

I am with you here. A Three Doctors power would be cool. Not sure how to implement it though. Let me think on it.

In the 50th Anniversary special, there is an entity called the Moment that has the power to bring the Doctors together. I think that might be the best way to go with it.

Just out of interest Tornado, what Doctor Who have you seen?
