Re: The Spellbook of Tarot: The Magician (VOTE for Initial)
Yea
I'm sold on the idea if you're liking how it plays. I will say that I don't like the specific use of draft here for a variety of reasons - like, ways to recast old spells, ways to cast spells outside of the game, that sort of thing. I feel like it's too easy to workaround what should be a hard limit. I would make the restriction more like "You may only cast one Tarot Spell normally each game." or something along those lines. Re: The Spellbook of Tarot: The Magician (VOTE for Initial)
Agreed. "Draft" refers to a specific game mode that's not the only way to play. It's definitely preferable to avoid that verbiage if possible.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

And honestly, if a character has an ability where they can recast Unique Spells multiple times, I assume that would be factored into their cost and balance, and I don't see a reason why they shouldn't be able to cast this Unique Spell multiple times. EDIT: Oh, and this passes. Last edited by MrNobody; April 11th, 2020 at 03:49 PM. |

Re: The Spellbook of Tarot: The Magician (Initial)
Btw, chap, I checked the Tarot system and this card in particular over with my Mum, who as I said, is resident Tarot expert. She fully approves, basically saying that, while not exact, it gets the soul of it down and translates it pretty much perfectly for game purposes. So, full green light from the expert!

Re: The Spellbook of Tarot: The Magician (Initial)
All in good time, chap - I wanted to just give her a sense of what was going on and make sure that this card was good. Might take a look over at them later.

Re: The Spellbook of Tarot: The Magician (Initial)
I like them! I definitely want to feel out a direction before I get headset on any specific powers, but I'll definitely be going back to that post when I want to do the next card. My two thoughts were;
-I think it would be nice for some of the "pair" cards to have mirrored effects. So if Sun adds a defense die, then Moon subtracts one, or something like that. -I also (coming from the perspective of using them with Xanadu) would probably try to sync some of these up with her respective allies. Devil with Etrigan and Judgement or Justice with Spectre, for example, if we can spin it in a way that thematically fits. But I'm also of the opinion that if you want to run a card, I'll basically have no objection to whatever direction you take it in. If you want to make Judgement a Judge synergy card, I'm not gonna be the one to try and stop you. |

Fair reply. Precedent is precedent.

Re: The Spellbook of Tarot: The Magician (Initial)
What are we thinking with points here? I feel like 70-90 is a good place to start, but I don't have much experience with trying to price a singular effect like this.

Re: The Spellbook of Tarot: The Magician (Initial)
I don't think we've done enough of these that any of us are masters at it. I think it might come in a little cheaper than that in practice (since it requires other spells), but I'm not confident.

Cool, I'll probably run it at 70, then just see how it goes.

Re: The Spellbook of Tarot: The Magician (Initial)
Yeah, a round of like Superman and Thor bonding is probably worth 70 points.
