Re: Groot (Design Phase)
So some options:
1) The one in the OP, it's a translation of Poison Ivy's power: Quote:

Also, does anybody happen to have the War of the Realms figure for a height check? Otherwise, 1.0 Groot is Height 10 so I might just roll with that. |

Re: Groot (Design Phase)
I don't think the "sticking to a single number" thing is always a good idea. Making Poison Ivy's thing 3 spaces (which is a huge increase in map coverage by the way) is not something I think would be fun to play against.
So for that reason Alone I'd lean to number 3 or 4 probably. I do kind of like the Captain Cold comparison there. If I'm understanding the wording of 3, a Melee figure trying to get to Groot would need to survive 5 rolls of the d20 to get to Groot...since each time it moves onto or over one of those 5 spaces between it and Groot it triggers? Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

If Eric or Archie like a faction it's a good chance it's mostly done

Re: Groot (Design Phase)
Leaning towards #4. Once per round I can for sure do something when I need to is better than a d20 roll to see if something happens when I may or may not care if it happens.

Re: Groot (Design Phase)
On the Royal keyword, I think modern Groot is retconned to not even be the classic Tales to Astonish Groot anymore? Which is admittedly kinda lame, but if you want an excuse to not acknowledge his Royalty, it's there!
If we're going post-MCU Groot he might be more of a Large than a Huge? (Maybe even DnA Groot is Large? Not sure where we're drawing the line) I generally favor the simpler versions of Entangle. Always been a fan of the 1.0 Hugo Strange "enemies can't engage and attack in the same turn" mechanic as a very simple representation of a "gotcha" effect - something like that could maybe also work here if you were looking for yet another option! Less map control than other possibilities. Not quite sure on class - my first instinct was actually to go look at what you were thinking on Robotman because he feels similarly Designated Team Big Guy but you had class as a ??? on Robotman. At least you're consistent. |

I’m down with Large here as long as we’re not locking in every Groot ever as Large. Dude can get pretty big. |

Re: Groot (Design Phase)
I'm leaning towards version 4. It's more consistent for you, the opposing player can play around it more reliably, and it cannot potentially keep going to prevent enemy figures from ever approaching you. It's pretty powerful with range 5 on a roll of 12 with unlimited usage.
As for the figure, I have it! I'll get a picture shortly but it's perfect in my opinion. Would probably say Large for him. |

Re: Groot (Design Phase)
Picture update! 5 tiles higher, bordering 6, and that's him squatting. Pretty close to MCU Groot size to me. |

Re: Groot (Design Phase)
I like number 1 or number 4. The use of "12" in the title of number 4 is confusing (typo?).
I would prefer to avoid a d20 in the ability. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: Groot (Design Phase)
I like 4 as well. Thinking on it more, version 1 even at range 2 could lead to a no-win scenario for a melee enemy, since Groot has range and could continually kite.
