This is a useful army because I can put all OMs on Super Saiyan Goku without worry. Base Vegeta is almost immediately taken out by the Lanterns. Goku meteor smashes Kyle into Saint Walker, and the Lanterns and Super Saiyans each trade some wounds. Goku manages to kill Saint Walker with the Kamehameha.

Then, Vegeta unleashes a Galick Gun which hits Dex-Starr, Kyle, and Goku. This actually kills Goku but does wound the lanterns as well. Vegeta takes out Dex-Starr. After this, Kyle has godly dice and takes out Vegeta despite a statistical disadvantage.


Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): White Lantern Kyle (1 wound, 1 white battery) wins.

Base Vegeta again doesn’t do much before dying here - his survivability isn’t much, but it does bring Super Saiyan Vegeta into the game early. Goku takes out Sue and heavily wounds Johnny. Thing uses the opportunity to kill Goku and put a few wounds on Super Saiyan Vegeta - and then Johnny supernovas to bring Vegeta to 1 life. Vegeta uses Atomic Rush to throw Thing into Johnny, then hits all 3 remaining Fan4 members with a Galick Gun. However, Thing then kills Vegeta next turn.


Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Mister Fantastic (3 wounds), Thing (3 wounds) win.

I want to see how Vegeta fares as a cheaper Challenger option alongside the other cheaper Challengers.

Piccolo rushes out in an attempt to kill Luke Cage with an early special beam cannon, but fails utterly and is killed himself. Vegeta takes out Luke. Vegeta and Krillin then tear through Human Torch and Moon Knight - the opposing army takes care to avoid being adjacent to each other. Spidey then dodges or blocks everything and takes the win.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Really love the design, it makes Vegeta and Goku work really well together - especially since Goku has the Meteor Smash which can only be used once per round, so having flexibility on when he can use it is nice. Galick Gun getting the auto skull when Vegeta moves with Atomic Rush is also really handy. Three losses in my games, but luck was a bit weird and Vegeta felt good to play.

Probably could come down 20 points if you want, otherwise I think he’s probably okay as is. Like I said, luck felt a bit weird with these games.

Hey, thanks for the quick playtests! Glad to see you're digging him even though he doesn't have a whole lot of survivability.

20 points is a lot to come down, but it's definitely worth testing for sure. I'll update the SP.

Luke Cage, Moon Knight, Iron Fist (600)

Recap: Base Vegeta got pounded pretty quick, with Iron Fist killing him on turn 3 of the first round with a big attack. The next round, I got to see the strength of Atomic Rush paired with Galick Gun, as he dealt some massive damage to all 3 fighters. A round or two later, Vegeta set up that blast again, killing both Luke and Moon Knight, losing the Fighters 2 OMs. Then Vegeta just knocked Iron Fist around the map for two turns, killing him before he could reveal OM3. It ended up extremely close though, Iron Fist, before the last round, got a few decent licks in, dropping Vegeta to 1 life. Vegeta also never managed to hit a single Afterimage roll which didn’t help. All in all you can’t get any closer than 1 life.

Recap: The DBZ crew moves up, starts dishing some quick damage, with Krillin picking people off as well. Then Otto kills Krillin in one hit. Punk tries to finish Goku with his Fender Bender, but doesn’t roll a single skull. Leopardon tries to Sword Vigor Goku also, and only hits 1 skull. So 6 unblockable dice against Goku and they only hit a single skull. Goku finishes Punk and Otto, and Leopardon finally Arc Turn Strikes him to death. Base Vegeta falls very fast to Leopardon, but then Super Vegeta cleans house. Leo puts up a fight, mostly using Arc Turn to avoid Vegeta’s Afterimage Technique, but it isn’t enough to keep up with Vegeta’s overwhelming power.


NOTE: Apparently my sick brain was 100% broken. I had Krillin’s card and figure close by and apparently thought he was supposed to be here too, so the DBZ dudes had an extra guy involved. But fortunately Krillin only dealt one or two wounds max before dying in one hit, so I think the only thing that would have happened is to make the game a few wounds even closer.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY:

Base Vegeta is a cool draft. He’s not terribly flashy, but combined with bonders like Krillin, he’s still no pushover. And the extra cherry on top is when he transforms, he gives Super Vegeta his Galick Gun, which lets you set up some pretty crazy explosions with Atomic Rush. I really enjoyed this combo, and the DBZ characters in general. They’re really tough, and have the feeling of one-man armies in a very satisfying way. I think his cost is just about right though. It almost feels like it’s too powerful, but as you can see the games both ended up being decently close.

Just note that I totally cheated and put Krillin in a game. He died nearly immediately though so it just would have maybe been slightly closer. My sick brain apparently isnt' working as well as I thought, hah.


Either way, love the Vegeta designs. Super fun combo.
