So something I had a question about (and apologies for bogging this thread even further down in minor theme details) - does Whistler exist in 616? Comicvine is telling me no, but that's Comicvine. Either way, he definitely didn't exist until after Nightstalkers was a thing, so probably doesn't make sense to have both of those thematic callouts here.

Whistler doesn’t exist in 616. The only mentions on the Marvel Fandom are the 90s cartoons and the live action movies.

Units: Blade (260), Hellboy 2 (340) (600) VS Captain Cold (II), Captain Boomerang (Digger Harkness), Tar Pit, Abra Kadabra (600)

Spoiler Alert!

Blade and Hellboy make for a formidable duo. Blade completely counters Abra Kadabra and eliminates him in two attacks. Blade himself offers a ton of offense, getting two attacks of 4 that ignore many defensive powers and a chance at an autowound as long as he can move adjacent to his opponent. Hellboy eliminates Tar Pit after a while, then Blade takes out Boomerang. Cold manages to kill Blade before Hellboy takes him out.


Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Hellboy (2 wounds) wins.

Spoiler Alert!

Blade and Hellboy go after Raven first, which ended up being a mistake, as they got 3 wounds onto Raven, fully powering up Starfire. Starfire then rolled amazingly, taking out Blade in a single turn. Starfire then kills Hellboy easily. Ridiculous game from the Titans.

Played this match again because of some wild luck. This game was little better, though, as the game started off with Hellboy one-shotting Nightwing with his whopper rounds. Blade and Hellboy capitalize on the lost OM3, taking out Raven before Starfire takes a turn. Blade and Hellboy then win initiative and kill Starfire.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Just ran a couple low cost games to test the Hellboy bonding. Had some bizarro luck in the games with the Titans, so hard to get much of a feel for him in those, but Blade was quite fun in the first game. Nice to have a more generalist take on the character, though by nature he’s still kinda a counterdraft to Magical Defense units and such. I think his points felt close - he’s fairly durable and flexible offensively, so there’s room to go up. But I might consider dropping his life or defense rather than bumping cost if it comes to that.
