Round 1: OMs 123X Larfleeze. 1 Miss Martian, 2 Raven, 3X Nightwing. Raven wounds Glom. Larfleeze spawns a couple Controllers who engage Starfire and deal her 3 wounds. Nightwing’s Titans Go! has Starfire and Miss Martian each kill a Controller. Larfleeze has another Controller go after Starfire, which is blocked, then Glom puts 2 wounds on Nightwing with his normal attack.

Round 2: OMs 123X Larfleeze. 1X Nightwing, 2 Raven, 3 Miss Martian. Raven takes Nightwing’s wounds then destroys a Controller, Starfire puts 2 wounds on Larfleeze, then Nightwing is blocked. Larfleeze spawns the last Controller who is blocked, then Glom wounds Nightwing. Raven takes 2 wounds from Starfire and soul selfs the last Controller to kill it. Larfleeze is blocked. Miss Martian puts 2 wounds on Larfleeze. Larfleeze is blocked.

Round 3: OMs 123X Larfleeze. 1X Nightwing, 2 Starfire, 3 Miss Martian. The Titans win initiative and kill Larfleeze then Glomulus falls, as all OMs were on Larfleeze.


Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Nightwing (1 wound), Raven (3 wounds), Starfire (1 wound), Miss Martian win.

The Controllers felt good, the Orange Lanterns finally feel like their comic counterparts. Larfleeze just had some bad dice and Raven made it so that any progress towards killing someone was immediately negated.

Round 1: OMs 123X Larfleeze. 123X Reed. Larfleeze & Glom move up. Reed moves up. Larfleeze creates a Controller and sends it and Glom to each wound Sue. Thing & Johnny & Reed manage to take down both Glomulus and the Controller, though Johnny takes a leaving engagement wound. Larfleeze sends two more Controllers after Sue, but they only inflict one wound. Thing & Sue take out the Controllers, and Reed ties Larfleeze down.

Round 2: OMs 123X Larfleeze. 123X Reed. The Fan4 are blocked. Larfleeze spawns two more Controllers, and they kill Sue (spawning a Stolen Identity). Johnny flames 2 wounds onto Larfleeze (taking another leaving engagement wound), but they can’t get their attacks through. Larfleeze creates two more Controllers which put 2 wounds on Reed. Reed manages 2 wounds on Larfleeze somehow. Larfleeze spawns the last Controller which fails, but the Stolen Identity wounds Johnny.

Round 3: OMs 123X Larfleeze. 12X Reed, 3 Thing. Johnny tries to Flame on 4 to kill Larfleeze, but he is killed from leaving engagement attacks before that can happen. Thing fails, but Reed manages to wound Larfleeze. Larfleeze takes out Reed with a lucky attack. Now Larfleeze has a choice - he’s at one life left and can risk disengagement to get safely behind his army of constructs, or he can risk the defensive rolls against Thing (and the offensive rolls, considering Thing’s rock wall defense). I’m going to risk the disengagement here as I don’t think I’d have a chance at winning otherwise. But Thing rolls a skull, and Larfleeze is killed, wiping out his army as well.


Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Thing (1 wound) wins. 5 Controllers and 1 Stolen Identity (Invisible Woman) were on the battlefield when Larfleeze went down.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Super fun. But it’s tricky to evaluate the Controller Constructs' balance. They felt really fun to play and the Orange Lanterns really feel like the whole corps like in Agent Orange. I like that you have to continually spawn more each turn to get their attack bonus. But they’re really weak defensively, and you can basically ignore them and just go after Larfleeze since taking him down kills the entire army too. I certainly miss the lockdown power! I didn’t get any use out of the Attention Hog power, but it could have come up if the Fan4 decided to attack the Stolen Identity.

I’m not sure if I could have played Larfleeze better. Ideally he’d have a few Controllers as meat shields, but if you leave them there they don’t get the attack bonus, and you don’t want to be wasting turns with them without the attack bonus. So I could see a small boost somewhere (maybe letting Attention Hog apply to Orange Lanterns) if they feel a little weak in the next tests.

My thing with the lockdown power was that when it's so easy to surround the enemy with Controllers, and they're so easy to kill, adding lockdown just seemed like overkill.

I'm definitely super open to tweaks though, and 2 losses tell me that being overpowered isn't something to be too worried about. I'm gonna have a quick think about what to do next.

ATTENTION HOG
If a figure adjacent to a Controller Orange Construct attacks any other figure you control that is not a Controller Orange Construct, the attacking figure subtracts 1 from its Attack number.

How does this look? Just went ahead and upgraded it from Orange Constructs only to all figures. I think that might make them semi-draftable with Lex, which is cool even if it's not a primary goal. They'd be like deployable Daring Decoy lites for him, basically like what the Green Decoys are but suckier.

That'd be helpful for sure. Anything to keep Larfleeze alive a little bit longer. I can't imagine it being too powerful since it doesn't stack.

Larfleeze drops two Controllers, moves up, and has the Controllers both attack Kyle with auto skulls. They land three wounds.
Kyle drops a Decoy next to one Controller and Larfleeze and then KO’s the other Controller.
Larfleeze drops two more Controllers. One KO’s a Decoy and the other forces Kyle to burn a Battery marker. A Stolen Identity is placed.
Kyle drops a second Decoy next to two Controllers and KO’s a Controller.

Round 2: Initiative Green Lanterns. Kyle places a Mech Warrior, it destroys one Controller, then attacks and fails to destroy a second.
Larfleeze has the Controller and Stolen Identity attack the Decoy and they both cause one wound. Kyle saves the Decoy with Sustained Willpower, however.
Kyle has the Mech attack the Stolen Identity and hit it for a wound.
Larfleeze has a Controller drop and KO the second Decoy. The Stolen Identity fails to hit the Mech.

Round 7: Initiative Green Lanterns. Hal KO’s Larfleeze, which KO’s the last Controller.

Unit Summary: They were very effective as Ambush attackers and mostly tied down and annoyed Unique Heroes after that, failing to attack with much efficiency. This felt very close down the stretch and Larfleeze really feels like he has a complete army now.

• ORANGE CONSTRUCT AMBUSH: Used (4) time to drop (6) Controllers. Auto-skulls used on (6) attacks, resulting in (5) wounds on (Kyle Rayner (2) and Green Construct Decoy (3))
• ATTENTION HOG: Used nicely in combination with stolen Daring Decoy, but low defenses didn’t make the combination last long.
• Damage Taken: 5 of 6 destroyed by attacks and the last one destroyed by Larfleeze being KO’ed.

Thing and Human Torch advance. Human Torch fails an attack on Glomulous from height disadvantage. Mister Fantastic advances.
Larfleeze drops two Controllers, advances, then has the Controllers advance and engage Invisible Woman. They hit her for one wound.
Mister Fantastic has Invisible Woman move out of the way (she fails to KO a Controller), Human Torch engages Larfleeze (and fails to hurt him), and Mister Fantastic whiffs on an attack from height on a Controller.
Larfleeze has a Controller drop and it hits Invisible Woman for a wound. Glomulous engages Invisible Woman, but can’t do anything.

Round 2: Initiative Orange Lanterns. Larfleeze drops two Controllers (one for protection) and has a Controller attack Invisible Woman with an auto-skull (no wounds) and Glomulous hits his D20 roll on Invisible Woman for two wounds, but can’t finish her with his attack.
Human Torch takes a swipe and Flames On, putting two wounds on Larfleeze and KO’ing a Controller. Human Torch lands back next to Larfleeze and punches him for a third wound. Invisible Woman and Mister Fantastic both move away from the Constructs and fail attacks on Larfleeze.
Larfleeze drops two Controllers, one of whom KO’s Invisible Woman with an auto skull attack. She’s replaced by the Stolen Identity, who’s happy to give her Force Field to his allies. Glomulous fails his D20 roll on Human Torch, but punches him for a wound.
Thing avoids a leaving engagement attack and KO’s a Controller. Mister Fantastic fails an attack on a Controller.

Round 3: Initiative Fantastic Four. A Controller gets a swipe on Thing, who moves to engage Larfleeze and easily blocks Thing’s one skull attack. Mister Fantastic can’t hit the Stolen Identity who has height and the Force Field boosting its defense.
Larfleeze drops his last Controller to cover where Thing could get even height with him and then hits Thing for two wounds from height.
Mister Fantastic can’t hit the Stolen Identity. Thing KO’s Larfleeze for two wounds.
A Stolen Identity hits Mister Fantastic for two wounds from height. Glomulous hits the Rock Wall and takes a wound.
Thing rolls 5 skulls but can’t hit Larfleeze, who has height and is in Force Field range.
The Stolen Identity finishes Mister Fantastic, but the Controller can’t finish Thing from height.

Round 4: Initiative Thing. He can’t hit Larfleeze.
Larfleeze has a Controller catch Thing whiffing from height and Thing takes a fourth wound. Glomulous fails to hit Thing.
Thing KO’s a Controller.
Larfleeze has a Controller advance and that Controller runs into Rock Wall Defense and is KO’ed. Glomulous hits on Avarice Appetite and finishes Thing.

Unit Summary: This was much closer than the margin indicates, since one more wound on Larfleeze would’ve wiped out all the remaining Constructs other than Glomulous, who did have one wound already. The Stolen Identity taking Invisible Woman’s Force Field was key for keeping Larfleeze alive here, though it paired well with Attention Hog. Orange Construct Ambush was really nice for getting to Invisible Woman and taking her down early, which was key to unraveling the Fantastic Four.
