RIP Eli Wallach
Eli Wallach was one of my favorite actors, and not only because he was Jewish from Brooklyn, like me. He passed away recently, not retired yet at 98 years old! He was brilliant in so many different types of roles for a very long time, from Napoleon to Mr. Freeze. Wallach started out as a stage actor, but later did over 90 films and also played over 90 TV roles. When he and his wife actress Anne Jackson went out for the night in New York City, his baby sitter was often fellow acting student Marilyn Monroe.
Here's my favorite trivia question about him, that I made up myself (answer off screen below): Question: Name three famous Westerns in which Eli Wallach played a Mexican. Answer: 1. The Magnificent Seven (Calvera) 2. The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly (Tuco) 3. How The West Was Won (Charlie Gant) Last edited by chas; June 30th, 2014 at 07:57 PM. |

RIP, indeed. To be honest, though, I was surprised to learn he was still alive.
