Here's the next in my series of proxies for hard-to-find and/or expensive official figures: the Knights of Heston.
The figures are Rackham Confrontation Lion Guards. There were 8 in a pack for about $16 at Miniature Market. That made them about $8 per squad - a bit pricey but still several dollars cheaper than the official KoW I've seen online. I've found some other Confrontation minis that should be good stand-ins for the Templar Cavalry. As soon as I receive the minis and can get the photos taken, I'll post them as well. Here's the latest Poor Man's "Official" custom card: Templar Cavalry proxy.
The figures are Rackham Confrontation Griffin Knights of Redemption. They look much meaner than the Templars, but pre-painted and correct scale are are a winning combination for me. Paid about $12 for a total of 6 figures. I purchased the bases on eBay from Yodajunkie for $7 including shipping. In total, it was just under $20 for two squads - quite a bit lower than I've seen the Templars priced. Here's an alternate version using the Lion Knights that match the figures I use for KoW proxies. I've added an "Under Construction" spoiler on the first post. These are work-in-progress cards that I haven't had time to playtest, yet. I won't individually post them until a playtest has been completed. If you have time, feel free to scan through them and leave a comment or suggestion.

Hey,
That's exactly why I got a set of those Knights. I can't get my hands on Templars and these figs are excellent (if a little delicate.) Really good substitution Mac. ~P |

The Miniature Market sale has been good for my collection (bad for my wallet). Here's my latest Poor Man's "Official" card:
Sir Gilbert proxy. The figure is a Flagbearer from the Confrontation Lions Guards Attachment box. The box of 3 figures cost $6.00. So, I get a Gilbert proxy and 2 others to make customs with. ---------- I'll be posting some drafts for my Ram army in the Under Construction section on the front page of the thread soon. Here's my latest effort in making proxies for hard-to-find and/or expensive Scape figures: Omnimech Repulsors - proxies for Omnicron Repulsors
These took a little more effort in the repainting and modding than my other proxies. I removed the spiked shields on the backs of the Golems and added various missile pods and guns from some unused Mechwarrior vehicles. I've also used the Brass Golem to make some as yet uncarded Vydar Soulborg squads. I left the spikes on the backs and added guns or missiles to the shoulders. Haven't decided if they will be a Unique 4-borg gun squad and a Uniqe 4-borg missile squad or if I will make them into 4 2-borg common squads (maybe something like a 2-borg squad of Vydar Repulsors?). I was going for the factory-new paint job on the Repulsors to match the Snipers, but once I sprayed them with Dullcote, the blue turned out very uneven. I gave them a gray wash, so now they have a more battle-weary look. The toughest part was tearing up the Mechwarrior vehicles for the weapons. I honor their sacrifice. |

I love what you've done with the AT-43 customs. I half wanted to get some before, but now i 100% percent want to get them now. (which why is was posting in the other forum.) I am curious though. Are your shadow team from the original release or from the frosbite exspansion, cause i can only find the frostbite ones. They look very white compared to the ones in your picture.
Anyway, you've got alot going on here and so far some incredible work. Keep it up. |

Thanks, Nova. I'm pretty sure the Shadows were made from Star Trooper figures. The boxes came with alternate heads - some with regular helmets, some with the advanced optics and a few with the Sgt. Renwick style head. They are getting a little hard to find at the moment (at least at reasonable prices). The Frostbite soldiers are very similar.

Do we played with allot of these once and the Undead slaughtered a army of 1170 of knights and archers here's what I think needs to happen for some prelim testing more to come

They move slow but they hit hard and pretty much 4 squads single handedly took down a 1170 army of knights paladins, Templar knights and archers. I even dropped their defense down to 3 half way through the game and they still stomped. I am going to try the other Valkrill squad tonight. So, the Undead army "slaughtered" the knight army? Was this due to good die rolls and better strategy or are the figures underpriced or out of balance? Also, when you get a chance, can you tell me what armies you played? Thanks again, Skeletor! I appreciate you playing the figures.
