The figures we have specify that they can break the rules and modify SAs. The elves in Classic do not modify any special attacks...? |

They're not modifying any special attacks, that's just their special attack.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Iceman)
The special attack modifying itself is different than another card/power modifying the special attack.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Anyways, Iceman is cool. He and Beast often feel like the most replaceable of the OG X-Men, but that 5 Attack SA is always useful at the end of the day. |

I'm definitely interested in exploring "alternate win condition" mechanics, fwiw.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Iceman)
For me it's the SA that gets him drafted. For a long time most SA were rolling 3 or 4 dice, so getting a SA that rolled 5 dice for just 150 points is pretty sweet. Lots of defense power only work vs. normal attacks, so having a strong SA in your back pocket is always a good idea when army building. Now there are quite a few strong SA's to choose from, but many of them come with a higher price tag which means Bobby remains a good pick.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Iceman)
Not to disrupt the format of this thread, but I want to hear some pro, in depth advice on the X-Men vs FF match-up.
In my experience, the no.1 target for the FF is Jean Grey, because she can unwrap Mr. Fantastic, de-pod Invisible Woman, and toss Thing somewhere he'll take a long time to get back from. The X-Men are not as much of a threat to the FF once she's gone. Beast can Negotiate with Reed, but he can't stealth leap away. Human Torch is the Prof X assassin with his auto-wounds. |

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Iceman)
Jean is definitely the biggest threat to the Fan Four, yeah. She has two of the three things they hate the most (figure movement and auto-wounding -- she lacks the third, which is mind control). Human Torch can do the most damage to the Fan Four with his auto wounds, but Jean can at least try to keep him from engaging Professor X, who is his likely target. While Jean does the most damage to the Fan Four, Professor X is their queen piece -- they just lose so much efficiency without him.
Even without Jean, though, so long as Professor X is around, the X-Men can send in two at a time, more than Mister Fantastic can Rubber Wrap reliably, to assassinate Invisible Woman. They just have to be sure to be efficient about it, or Thing will make them pay. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
