That's essentially how it was, the issue viewers pointed out (if not here then elsewhere) is remembering what Mana was paid to cast it is too much of a memory requirement. In the above, there are several workarounds, but this updated version does exactly what the original design wanted by utilizing flying counters from Ikoria. Memory issues resolve when counters mark the memory issue.
