I'd be asking if we could come up with a more distinctive leadership power than the Xavier special, but since this guy's basically proto-Xavier from what you've said it makes sense from a thematic and metatextual viewpoint for their leadership powers to be basically the same.

As the design stands, he'd be a cool hub for any army, too. Not as effective as a troubled hub, obviously. But he could pair well with Star-Lord / Cap too, potentially, adding some OM efficiency. Cool design.

Yeah, I like it because it'll let his army blend a bit with DP-adjacent characters like Flex, Danny the Street, and Ambush Bug without forcing those designs to be Troubled themselves.

Just as a brainstorm, what about this as an alternate leadership power?

DOOM PATROL LEADERSHIP (CHAOTIC VERSION)
After revealing a numbered Order Marker on this card, instead of taking a turn with The Chief, you may choose up to 3 Troubled Unique Heroes you control, or 1 Unique Hero you control. The Chief cannot be one of the Unique Heroes. One at a time, roll the 20-sided die for each figure you chose, subtracting 4 from your roll if you chose 2 figures, or 8 from your roll if you chose 3 figures. If you roll a 5 or higher, take an immediate turn with the chosen figure.

With this version, I'd probably put the 10 space/whatever requirement on the Manipulation to keep him from just totally wanting to sit in the SZ.

The alternative is something like this, for reference.

DOOM PATROL LEADERSHIP (XAVIER VERSION)
After revealing a numbered Order Marker on this card, instead of taking a turn with The Chief, you may take a turn with up to two different Troubled Unique Heroes you control or one Unique Hero you control. The Chief cannot be one of the Unique Heroes. Any Unique Hero that is taking a turn instead of The Chief must be within 10 spaces of The Chief before moving.

Too much math. I could see the rolling and calculations really slowing down the game. Maybe if it were a bit simpler?

Suggestions? I feel like rolling once for all figures is way too make-or-break and would push me away from ever risking the 3 figure option.

Wouldn't mind this with a range restriction.

It's tough to word in a way that doesn't seem quirky. Going for something that's a tad more streamlined .... (but also adding in necessary power baggage):

DOOM PATROL LEADERSHIP
After revealing a numbered Order Marker on this card, instead of taking a turn with The Chief, you may choose 1 Unique Hero you control, or up to 3 Troubled Unique Heroes you control. The Chief cannot be one of the chosen Heroes and chosen Heroes must be within 10 clear sight spaces of The Chief. One at a time, roll the 20-sided die for each Hero, subtracting X from each result, where X = three times the number of chosen Heroes. If you roll 5 or higher, you may take an immediate turn with that Hero. After using Doom Patrol Leadership, you may not take any additional turns with other figures you control.

So if you choose one Hero, you get a turn on 8+; two Heroes each gets a turn if they get 11+; three Heroes each gets a turn if they get 14+

The quozl/Tickle suggestion is definitely more elegant, though, and I wouldn't mind that direction. Just trying to work with what you had and massage it a bit in mine.

I think simpler is better in this case. That's complicating things just for the sake of complicating things. The SP is great here. Quozl's isn't bad too, but it lets you take a turn with 3 heroes per turn? Seems a bit much.

He already has an X reveal power, so we'd have to change Emotional Manipulation to fit this.

Even if we did, I think this heavily pushes him towards including non-Troubled characters in your army, and that's not my intention. The Xavier mimic power would allow you to include them at a cost (less turn efficiency), while this feels like it would punish you for not bringing some sort of powerful Hero for that bonus X turn. Also seems like 7 turns per round is a lot, even if the DP aren't A+ figures to take turns with.

Yeah that just seems like too much complexity for little gain.

Leaning back towards the Xavier version.
