The figure used for this unit is a Heroclix figure from the Chaos War set.
Its model number and name are #025 / Nitro.

Character Bio - "Robert Hunter was a retired electrical engineer who operated a ham radio as a hobby before the Lunatic Legion, a group of rebel Kree who had been monitoring his broadcasts, chose him to become their agent. The Legion took him to a hidden genetics laboratory and genetically altered his body, endowing him with the ability to explode his body's molecules and reassemble them at will. They dubbed him Nitro.

Recently, he was located in Stamford, Connecticut during a televised raid of a house containing him, the Cobalt Man, Speedfreek, and Coldheart. During the battle Nitro was attacked by Namorita. After being slammed into a bus, and continuously taunted by Namorita, he let off a massive explosion that killed the majority of The New Warriors, the children at a nearby elementary school, and the residents of the surrounding neighborhood. At the beginning of any following round, before initiative is rolled, if Nitro is on this card and not destroyed, you may place him on the battlefield within one space of his previous placement. While on this card Nitro may not use any other special powers.

MUTANT GROWTH HORMONES 2
At the end of the round, you may reveal an "X" Order Marker on this card to to add one MGH marker on each Army Card you control with the Mutant Growth Hormone special power. Nitro may never have more than 2 MGH markers on his card.

EXPLOSION SPECIAL ATTACK
Range Special. Attack 3+ Special.
All figures within “X” spaces of Nitro are affected by this Special Attack, where “X” is equal to 1+ the number of MGH Markers on this card. Add 1 to the Attack for each MGH Marker on this card. Roll attack dice once for all affected figures. Affected figures roll defense separately. After using Explosion Special Attack remove all MGH Markers from this card.

This allows MGH to be a reusable power with adjustments for the max number and allows his explosive power to be used without markers.

Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those.

Side note...attack of 4, 5, 6 on so many spaces is likely going to mess this guy up cost wise. If the expanding is what's important to you then keep the attack static and just let the MGH increase his range.

Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those.

I really like the idea of both range and attack capable of increasing. We can go with 3+ special here for the att. That would cap his attack at 5.

I really like the idea of both range and attack capable of increasing. We can go with 3+ special here for the att. That would cap his attack at 5.

I just worry about it since every figure in a range of 5 is a lot of figures defending a 5 attack. We can wait and see though.

If that is the intent, then the line can be removed (since he can't use his SA while on the card anyway), and replaced in the first power with something like, "At the end of each round that Nitro is on the battlefield..."

*Is Nitro placed on the card immediately after using his SA, or just some time after?

*Anyone worried about remembering where his previous placement was if he self-detonates on Player 1's OM1 in a 3+ person game?

Technically that would change a few interactions, as it would mean he could no longer shoot up on MGH while off the battlefield by other means that don't place him on his card (right now I can only think of Kang vII - come to think of it, if he could do that he'd make a pretty solid candidate for Timestream Reinforcements). Not necessarily against the change, but I want us to be aware of the changes in interactions it could cause.

Already discussed earlier in the thread - technically he shouldn't be able to do that anyway - special powers don't normally work while a figure is out of play. C3G has not been good about enforcing that all the time over the years, though. (And Kang had that issue FAQ'd incorrectly for a long time)

I think Mutant Growth Hormone has plans as a re-use in the future. That may be why that transplant won't work. Also technically the being on his card is a component of being dispersed and the MGH markers aren't directly connected since he can explode without the Markers. It's just a weaker explosion.

Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those.
