C3G INITIAL PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM

NAME OF THE TEST UNIT Elongated Man


Army Test
- Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes, definitely.
- What should be the unit's point value? 175-180.
- Give a brief overview. Elongated Man did the Lord’s work here. Super Sleuth provided valuable information, even when it missed. Ridiculous Reach is an incredible zoning tool, which was able to keep Guy in a tough spot all game, forcing him to attack the 7+1 defense Elongated Man out of fear of free wounds. Kinetic Stretch was used for the attack boost and disengage movement a couple of times. Not to mention Elongated Man’s big attack into Flash, which was really all luck.

Units: Elongated Man (160), Captain America, Star-Lord, Pyro, and Green Goblin (1000) vs. Blue Lantern (Saint Walker), Blue Lantern (Flash), Green Lantern (Guy Gardner), and Green Construct (Tactical Bomber) (1000).

Spoiler Alert!

Elongated Man hits Super Sleuth, but loses initiative anyway! Saint Walker wastes no times and uses Guy Gardner’s range boost to hit Star-Lord for 1 wound. Then, in an insane turn of events, Star-Lord gains height and kills Saint Walker in one shot. Down but not out, Guy Gardner summons the Tactical Bomber, flies across the map, and slays Star-Lord in one hit! Green Goblin ranges Guy for a wound, and Flash runs in, gets Guy’s boost, and slays Green Goblin! What a round! It’s not quite over yet, as Elongated Man takes position between Flash and Guy, attacking with Kinetic Stretch boost but missing Flash.
Super Sleuth hits the X again, giving Cap’s team the initiative. Cap gets into the action and wounds Flash. Guy attacks Elongated Man but its blocked, and so is his overextend attack from taking a wound. Cap hits Flash again, and Guy hits Elongated Man for 2 wounds. Elongated Man is packing heat, as his normal attack boosted by Cap kills Flash.
Super Sleuth hits the 2OM, but Cap’s team wins initiative regardless. Cap moves and misses a Shield Throw, and Guy finishes Elongated Man. Cap comes in and hits Guy for 1 wound. Guy kills Cap with two attacks and a battery marker. Guy then hits Pyro to end the round.
After a couple more exchanges, Guy wins out, just barely.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Green Lantern (Guy Gardner) w/ 3 wounds, Green Construct (Tactical Bomber) unwounded.

- What should be the unit's point value? 150-160.
- Give a brief overview. Elongated Man amounted to a lot less this time, since the Kree have long enough range to keep out of Ridiculous Reach. Super Sleuth still did work but missed each attempt this game and the Soldier’s initiative boost mitigated it a lot. Elongated Man stills zones really well and the army was effective in a pod, they just couldn’t quite pull out the offense needed this time.

Units: Elongated Man (160), Doctor Mid-Nite, Joker I, and Harley Quinn I (630) vs. Ronan, Kree Scout x3, and Kree Soldier x5 (630).

Spoiler Alert!

Joker is the Accused. Super Sleuth hits the 2OM, and Ralph gets initiative, letting Joker dump OMs onto Kree Soldiers. Dr. Mid-Nite moves onto a shadow space and next to a bush. A Kree Soldier moves. Joker moves, then Harley moves. Ronan moves, and Elongated Man moves. A Scout teleports some more Scouts to it, then attacks Elongated Man at range for 2 wounds. Ronan comes in and hits Joker for a wound with his special attack.
Super Sleuth hits the 2OM again, but it’s not enough and Kree win initiative. Ronan attacks Joker with his SA but misses. All 5 Kree Soldiers move, and Mid-Nite puts down a defensive Blackout Bomb before fully healing Elongated Man. Ronan shifts gears and engages Mid-Nite, hitting him for 1 wound. All the Soldiers move and get into tactical positions to be boosted by Ronan. Joker kills one Soldier, and Harley eliminates the remaining Soldiers with Smilex Bomb. A Scout moves adjacent to Ronan and attacks Elongated Man, missing. Ronan misses Mid-Nite. Joker sneaks up to the Scout next to Ronan and attacks, missing. Harley moves and misses an attack, and the Blackout Bomb dissipates.
Super Sleuth sees the 1OM, and Kree win initiative by a mile thanks to the dead Soldiers. A Scout hits Joker for 2 wounds thanks to Ronan’s boost, then Joker dies to Ronan’s hammer. Elongated Man Kinetic Stretches over to a Scout and whacks him dead. Mid-Nite blocks a Scout attack, then dies to Ronan’s hammer. A Scout misses Harley, and Ronan also misses her. Super Sleuth sees the 1OM, and Kree get priority. Newly Accused Elongated Man takes 2 hits from a Scout, then dies to Ronan’s SA. Harley darts away for the rest of the round.
After numerous more round of 1 on 1 action, Harley falls.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Ronan w/ 3 wounds.

- Give a brief overview. Elongated Man was just right this game. Ridiculous Reach actually got a roll in, though it missed. Kinetic Stretch amounted to some damage this time around, and of course, Super Sleuth is used all the time. He combos really well with Question since he can help find the X.

Units: Elongated Man (160), Question, Lobster Johnson, Siryn, and Wolfsbane (750) vs. Ragman, Batgirl (Stephanie), Batman (Jean), Nite Owl, and Batgirl (Barbara) (750).

Super Sleuth hits the 1OM, but it’s not enough to net initiative. Ragman opens by flying to a good high point to hunt for souls. Lobster Johnson moves forward, and is met by a system failure for Batman. Question moves next to Lobster, and Barbara moves up, shooting Question for 3 wounds on a lucky strike. Nite Owl moves. Elongated Man Kinetic Stretches into the fray, and the round ends.
Super Sleuth hits the X, and it gives Ralph’s team the initiative. Lobster hits Nite Owl for 2 wounds. Ragman comes in swinging and misses Elongated Man. Nite Owl follows and attacks Elongated Man, getting a Smoke Pellet off of Question and allowing the pod to rearrange themselves. Lobster misses Nite Owl from height, and Stephanie triggers the other Smoke Pellet from Question. Master Detective hits the known X on Barbara, and Question hits Barbara for a wound. Batman comes in, shurikens Question to death after dodging Ridiculous Reach, then hits Elongated Man for a wound.
Super Sleuth hits the 1OM, but it’s not enough. Ragman attacks twice, but misses Elongated Man both times. Nite Owl whiffs. Lobster engages a few figures to draw their attention and takes out Barbara in the process. Stephanie is dished 3 wounds by Lobster’s next attack, then a Kinetic Stretch from Elongated Man finishes her off and the round.
Super Sleuth correctly guesses the X, giving initiative to Ralph. Lobster moves and hits Batman for 2. Lobster is hit for 3 wounds in return, but Nite Owl can’t quite hit him. Batman is hit once more, and Lobster falls but gets back up stronger than ever. Nite Owl can’t reach the noew defensive Lobster, and Elongated Man stretches in to miss Batman. Batman slams Lobster who is then finished off by a closing-in Nite Owl.
Super Sleuth hits the X but they win initiative as it is, and Wolfsbane dashes in, trying to pounce Batman but only ending up wounded. System Psychosis goes off for Batman, hitting Elongated Man for 2 and Wolfsbane for 3. Nite Owl misses Elongated Man, then Nite Owl is wounded by Wolfsbane. Elongated Man blocks two attacks from Ragman, and one from Nite Owl. Elongated Man stretches away and slams Nite Owl, killing him, then Ragman takes him out.
Wolfsbane and Batman exchange misses, then Ragman moves. Batman is taken out by Wolfsbane and Siryn and Ragman duel, but Ragman comes out on top. Luckily Wolfsbane lives and finishes the game.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Wolfsbane w/ 4 wounds.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: After the first game, I was afraid Elongated Man would be a big powerhouse tool, and while he is strong, I’m feeling confident about 160 going into public testing.


GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: Elongated Man offers a variety of playstyles. He sits there and zones with Ridiculous Reach while Super Sleuthing with the X Order Marker. If you need him to get down and dirty, Kinetic Stretch can make a good attack possible almost anytime.

This guy is fun! He brings a whole lot in his toolbox. 160 is feeling really right after three games, but perhaps his strength will show more after more games.

I propose a move to public playtesting at 160 points.
