Re: Marvel version of BoV, anyone?

Everyone is going to want to be a judge, that's why that should go on behind closed doors. Pick people you trust, that have proven they know what a good map is.

Re: Marvel version of BoV, anyone?

Hey everyone,
Sorry I have posted in a while or gotten back to the judge volunteers, but I'm afraid I won't be able to continue trying to work out this out because I'm going to be taking a leave of absences from Heroscapers until further notice. But if anyone else wants to continue this idea, feel free, because I would love see something accomplished when I come back to the site.
Farewell fellow Heroscapers. Until next time,
TSS

Re: Marvel version of BoV, anyone?

I'd be willing to try to lead this project and get it off the ground. I think this a great idea because I think people need some good Marvel only maps. If you would like to judge and feel that you are qualified, you can PM me and we can try to get this going.

Re: Marvel version of BoV, anyone?

Since BOV maps utilize other terrain expansions, what's the restriction on the terrain pieces? 1 Marvel Set + 1or 2 of any terrain expansion?

Re: Marvel version of BoV, anyone?

I think the terrain should be 1 marvel and then 1 terrain expansion. No master sets.

I checked the BOV by laws...

IMO Marvel BOV ought to observe this too. I mean, since Marvel has so few tiles already, putting more terrain expansions wouldn't hurt. What do you think?

Re: Marvel version of BoV, anyone?

Marvel Heroscape and Classic Heroscape play two very different ways. Marvel needs a smaller map. I think 1 marvel set and 1 or 2 expansions is plenty for a Marvel only battle.

Re: Marvel version of BoV, anyone?

I say 1 Marvel Heroscape + 2 expansions. Both master sets can be used as two expansions each. I think we might also want to accept entries with two M:tCB, but stop it there.

Re: Marvel version of BoV, anyone?

I think that that is too much terrain. A normal master set has too much terrrain for a quick, light marvel game. To keep things interesting I think we need small maps with as little integration into classic scape as possible. I am willing to do 1 marvel and 2 expansions but I don't think we should do 2 marvel or master sets.

Re: Marvel version of BoV, anyone?

Alrighty so 1 Marvel + any two expansions. I think that we should allow at least one SotM + Marvel. SotM has less terrrain than RoTV, and it adds variety to M:tCB. You have this new swamp terrain, swamp water, normal water, plus you have some basic hexes too. RotV is too big, and you're right, Marvel maps should be smaller. However, even if the footprint is smaller, they will still need elevations, and frankly M:tCB does not have enough tiles for that. One could argue that the terrain expansions would provide that extra terrain, but the majority of that type has special effects. We need to be able to add more normal terrain, and SotM will enable that.

For judging, I think we should go with a points-based system, both to differentiate from the BoV, and also to make the selecting process easier since there really are not that many Marvel maps/mapbuilders already out there, making the determination of what makes a Marvel Map "good" harder.

I'm open to suggestions, those were just my ideas.

Re: Marvel version of BoV, anyone?

I think those are all valid points. I was thinking about allowing SotM because it adds that swamp terrain. I think if you use Sotm then we could say you can only use 1 other terrain expansion. Basically saying:

All maps must have:
1 Marvel master set

Maps may include (choose 1):

1 terrain expansion

2 terrain expansions

1 swarm of the marro master set

1 swarm of the marro master set and 1 terrain expansion
