Re: The Book of Junkyard Map - Final Editing
Not sure what to do here. Is there nobody interested in this map?

Re: The Book of Junkyard Map - Final Editing
I'm interested but super busy. I can't commit to building it but I'll try to put it together when I have some free time.

Re: The Book of Junkyard Map - Final Editing
I am interested but my son is not ready for me to tear down our current map. I will count our leftover tiles and see if I have enough left as I don't think our current map is using much from the RotV set. Give me a couple of days.
Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

Re: The Book of Junkyard Map - Final Editing
I can throw it together this week if I can find time. Do you want a playtest, or do just want a build check?

Re: The Book of Junkyard Map - Final Editing
I'm back home now and I picked up another car on my travels but I still only have 8 two hex vehicles. I could fill in a couple of more hexes with 1 hex motorcycles but even then I'm still short of the 14 double hex vehicles this requires.

That's ok. We're just checking the build instructions.

Re: The Book of Junkyard Map - Final Editing
Oh, this whole time I though you were looking for someone to set the whole thing up and take pictures or play a game on it. I can just follow the build directions and look for inconsistencies/problems.

Re: The Book of Junkyard Map - Final Editing
I built it tonight, it went pretty quick and every tile is in the right spot. Only using 1 RotV is pretty nice. I checked out where the cars are placed and I would move them around a bit. I'll take a few pictures tomorrow and show you what I am seeing. Some glyphs spread around in-between the junked cars might be a nice touch too, then you have more incentive to run around the Junkyard.

Re: The Book of Junkyard Map - Final Editing
I only have enough cars to fill up one side of the map but since the two sides are a mirror image that is enough for a good look at the lay out. Here is a pic showing the cars in the locations currently assigned.
I'm not a big fan of this placement. The 3 cars at the top seem a bit crowded together and it seems as though several of the tiles on this small map would not be of much use in the current layout. By having the cars right up on the edge of the map they create out of the way hexes that seem unlikely to get used very often unless you are running away and hiding with a figure. The solo sand hex on the other side of the yellow car is the clearest example of this. If I were constructing this map for home play I would rearrange the cars as seen below. Reduce the number of cars by the crusher from 3 to 2 and pull them into the middle of that area. Also shift the other 4 cars over towards the center of the map such that figures can move fully around the obstacles. Now if one gap is filled by an opponents figure(s), you can (without flying) swing around the other side of the car and try to flank those units behind the roadblock. Or come at someone hiding behind the car from both sides rather then 1 on 1. |
