It's available through the Humble Indie Bundle 4 right now if you pay more than the average (I'm not sure what it is right now because it's always changing). I passed on it because I didn't think it or Cave Story + looked that interesting, but whatever floats your boat.

Speaking of said Bundle, I'm loving Super Meat Boy (though I must be a masochist for playing it), Jamestown (which also came with the soundtrack), Bit.Trip Runner (even though starting at the beginning of the level over one mistake is frustrating), and Night Sky is an interesting puzzle game featuring a magic... marble. I've yet to try out Shank, even though it shouldn't take that long to download.

And I'll be out of commission for Killing Floor and New Vegas for a bit because my favorite mouse broke, so I must venture into the horrifying reality of Wal-Mart or something and find a mouse that doesn't fit my hand too awkwardly (this one fit it just right, which makes it that much sadder to see it die... ).

It's fun. Lots of customization. Picked it up about 7-8 months ago on STEAM and included all the expansion factions for like $9.99. It's indirect control combat. You create your ships/fleet and then go to a mission and it plays out for you depending on your builds and stuff.
You pretty much design your ships however you want and complete missions. You get honor if you win which acts as currency, and you get to use that to unlock new ship hulls, races, weapons, armor, etc....

There is also some psudeo-online play where you can play against missions other people created, but I didn't get into that much. I'd grab the demo if I were you, get a feel for it.

Sims 3. I don't know why, I spend enough time trying to cram in chores, eating and cleaning between working and sleeping in my real life, let alone a simulation of it....

My fiance loves playing the Sims games, and I always make the similar joke of what you stated. I'll tell her, "My life is already a pain in the ass sometimes with the million things I'm always doing, why would I want to act that out in my spare time?"

So we're missing one achievement for a mission in which you are a pair of snipers and you have to meet up with alpha team to then escort them safely to a location in which hostages are being held. The achievement is to complete the mission without ever alerting the enemy of your presence. We always can make it toward the end, but then one of us will goof on a head shot, alerting the enemy. Its driving us crazy... I think we have a few more tries left in us before we abandon this task.
My brother and I finally nailed this one last night! Once we heard the chirp of the achievement pop up before eliminating the HVT, we were hootin' and hollerin'. Ah the taste of satisfaction...

Yeah, Sims 3 is actually my wife's game, but with Skyrim coming in 10 days, I didn't feel like purchasing anything else, so Sims is going to hold me over.

The hilariously unlikely room mates of Eddard Stark and Cersei Lannister, its like a sitcom that writes itself (if the sitcom mostly focused on stinky people complaining about being tired.)

Killing Floor, both Left 4 Deads, and Mass Effect 2.

Started playing Gatling Gears with my brother last night. It's a simple, yet fun little twin-stick shooter. I like how you are able to upgrade your "gear," "mech" or whatever you'd like to call it.

Re: What Video Game are you Currently Playing?

I was finally able to purchase Portal, and I've absolutely plowed through it. I'm almost done with the 19 test chambers in roughly and hour. I also picked up The Binding of Isaac, and that is one disturbing (albeit fun) game. It's just... wow.

Also, if anyone is interested, I've got two coupons on Steam from the first challenge yesterday. One is 50% off Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and the other is 33% off any Valve title. Both won't be active until after the sale has ended. The games I'll trade for are:

Dungeon Defenders
Orcs Must Die!

If you're interested, shoot me a PM so we can arrange something.

Get Portal 2, it's much longer and has really fun Co-op play.

Now through May 28th, the Louisville region is in desperate need of platelets - call the Red Cross if you are interested in donating!

I wish I could, but there's no way my computer could handle Portal 2, plus Portal was only $2.50.

Idk, it probably could. They both run on the Source engine. You might just have to lower the graphics.

Re: What Video Game are you Currently Playing?

Home at my parents' for the holidays, I just dug my old Atari 800 out of storage, hooked it up — and found that, despite its old age (purchased in 1983), it still works perfectly. Even the old disk drive can still read my old 5.25" floppies. And the old original Atari joysticks still work too.

So I had a trip down memory lane. River Raid. Pinball Construction Set. Lords of Conquest. Mr. Robot. Jumpman. Bristles. And some truly amazing, groundbreaking, pathsetting games: Star Raiders. Archon. Archon 2. Seven Cities of Gold. Murder on the Zinderneuf. And the incomparable MULE. (May you rest in peace, Dan Bunten, most visionary of video game designers.)

I'm 41 now. To think I was 14 when those games absorbed my life.
