Repainting hex terrain?

I'm new to the whole "custom" thing going on here at heroscapers and need advice on how to repaint hex terrain. I figured that this is the only way to get terrain such as snow, lava, lava field, etc. Cause nobody wants to spend $100 on a single terrain expansion.

So if anyone has done this before please give some info on how to paint it and what type of paint (specific colors, type of paint, brand, etc.)

Re: Repainting hex terrain?

Grishnakh has a lava tutorial in his Custom Terrain Thread. There are a lot of other tutorials around for repainting hexes if you look around a bit.

Re: Repainting hex terrain?

Snow and lava are relatively easy. The Marvel set is a good place to start for both. The concrete works well with some white spray paint to make the snow and the asphalt provides a good base for the lava field. Water, swamp water, or shadow tiles can be painted for the ice and molten lava. I'm no where near as talented as people like Grishnakh, but here's how I did mine. Good luck!

Edit: if you look through the posts you'll find links to some of the other Scaper's terrain threads and some suggestions for Jungle terrain.
