Lava Resistance completely negates Heat SAs?

in 1.0 it did but for everything else in 2.0 we've gone with Heat Resistance ignoring 1 wound of the base attack and by extension a damage die is auto blocked.

for instance here is Cinder and her fire based attacks.

MAGMA BALL
If Cinder inflicts 1+ wounds on a non-adjacent figure with her normal attack, before placing wounds, you must choose a figure adjacent to the defender and roll 1 Heat damage die against it.

SEARING TOUCH SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 1. Attack 2. Heat
Searing Touch has +2 Attack if Cinder did not move this turn. If she inflicts 1+ wounds with this attack, roll 1 Heat Damage die against the defender for burn damage. Continue rolling for burn damage until she does not roll a skull.

So yeah you can roll that Heat Damage die but it won't matter since it would be ignored anyway.

Karat cut the line that the whole SA doesn't affect heat resistance. Which would be a change allowing it to affect them. Which like, I'm fine with. Just was confused.

this does make me wonder how this interaction works on this card...

. If a figure takes 1+ wounds from this special attack, roll 1 damage die against that figure for each wound taken

So if a Heat Resistant figure gets 3 wounds...ignores one from being Heat Resistant...do those 2 damage die count as on instance so two skulls...ignore 1 result in 1 additions wound...or is it 2 different Heat Damage die rolls that could both get ignored from Heat Resistance. Up til now all things have been "roll a Heat Damage die" Cinder's is a series of Heat Damage Die so that one obviously gets stopped by Resistance...here I don't know

I think different people have done it differently in the past but it makes sense to have it all be 1 roll so they can't ignore the whole thing.

The dropping of the ignore part was definitely more of a suggestion which matches what we have done with other similar powers which makes it an option against figures with Heat Resistance. Though we can still make them immune if we want to.

Yeah it's been a thing. See Human Torch etc.

Less flat out denial and just less effective. It's still denial for single damage die essentially.

I just theme it as sure this guy only shoots fireballs and that guy is made of lava...but Fireball guy would find a way to do something such as bounce a fireball off something else so that thing hits him or something and not just say "oh well, guess I'll just go home"

Love this guy. Make sure to add something about his base size/shape in the rules/resources section. It was a odd shape if I remember right. Maybe a picture in a spoiler?
