What Marvel squads could they make?

I'm not really sure if I really know any squads that they could do. I'm not greatly versed in Marvel, so I'm sure I'm missing some easy one.

SHIELD Agents.

Common thugs. I dunno. I think just having the heroes is the best idea. It doesn't need squads.

Re: What Marvel squads could they make?

Try the search feature. There are already 47590465 threads out there with this information in them.

I agree, though, that Marvel doesn't need them. The game plays differently than Classic. IF they do make squads, I hope they don't change the emphasis on heroes who throw 503645 dice at a time.

Actually, one of the new awesome features of the new site is the "Similar Threads" section towards the bottom of each thread. It has a few links to preexisting Marvel Squad threads.

Re: What Marvel squads could they make?

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Even better (aside from having to make the thread in the first place).

Re: What Marvel squads could they make?

I'm personally more interested in filler characters. It get's a bit annoying when you still have 50 points and no way to spend them. So I think it would be great if they created cheap characters like Nick Fury, The Prowler, Rocket Racer, and other guys that do't have very much to make them "special" other than the fact that they are cool, and belong to the Marvel universe. Heck, they could make a J. Jonah Whats-His-Last-Name and I'd play with him...probably just to get him killed, but I'd still use him.

I don't think they need to get too cheap, but I agree there could be some filler characters in the 50-100 point range. A couple of unique squads might be able to fill that role, or sidekick types, or just superheroes that don't have a large number of powers. Perhaps somebody like The Lizard (spider-man foe) or Angel (winged X-man) could be in that range.

PS. I wouldn't tell Mister "Ninthdoc" that you think Nick Fury is a cheap filler!
Or that the only reason he's any good is because he's Marvel. If he was anything else, he'd be dumb. But, actually, I don't really know all that much about Nick, other than the fact that he's a SHEILD agent, so considering he doesn't really have any super powers, I'd assume he'd be under 100 points.

Re: What Marvel squads could they make?

Marvel needs squads. Sure, throw down of Thing vs. Hulk or Torch vs. Spider-man is great. But think about Thing vs. the Yancy Street Gang or Sub-Mariner and an army of Atlanteans vs. Iron Man and a squad of Shield agents.

Also, more often than not, Villains have lackeys. While the Brotherhood could not be a squad, Doombots, AIM, Moleoids, and Hydra (that everyone else has mentioned) could be. As for common thugs, what good would Kingpin be by himself?

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to create 90's video game bad guys (think the Maximum Carnage game) where the squad is just filler until the bad guy shows up. But some squads just make sense. Kree, for instance. Read issue 6 of Annihilation and tell me you don't want a couple squads of Kree warriors wearing jet packs to fly out attacking Annihilus's insectoid hordes while you shout "Remember! You are KREE!!"

Besides, there is no more logical way to do Multiple Man without him being a squad.

So, all that said, my picks: Sentinals, Yancy Street Gang, Kree Warriors, Skrull Spies, Sheild Agents, Sheild Cape-killers, the Phalanx, Atlanteans, the Brood, Doombots, Wakandan Warriors, AIM, Moloids, the Ovoids... just kidding. Ovoids suck.

I guess that about concludes it for me.

Re: What Marvel squads could they make?

I was thinking, how does everybody think squads with their 1 life could stand up to the array of heavy hitters in Marvel.

If they made the squads over powered then they wouldn't be that fun to play in HS.

Re: What Marvel squads could they make?

Look folks, unless Wave 8 sells well in Wal-Mart, Marvelscape has no future. And even if Wave 8 DOES sell, then Marvel Wave 1 will need to sell well also. That's going to be tough considering most stores are begging people to buy the base set, which are amassing on shelves.

I like the discussion, I just fear it may be pointless.
