What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?

Not the biggest fan of Smallworld myself, but it is cool at times, the customizable races are very fun and its a good 3+ player game. Me and my group finally got around to playing it for the first time last month after owning it for over a year.

In other news, a friend and I finally splurged to get X-wing last night, and I've never been so happy to spend 80$ on a game. We ended up getting two core sets plus a Tie Defender and a YT-2400. Had a blast playing it for almost 4 hours after that, I'm a big fan of the Defender. Probably going to get a smidge more so we have some options for tournament play, coolstuff has monthly tournaments at both their locations near us, so I'd like to give it a try.

Had a good time at the store yesterday with @akden , @10th Regiment of Doom, @Legos of Bleakewoode , @cat _Scaper, Stephen Universe, and others for International Tabletop Day. Played a 2 core set game of Armada, which was awesome. Other games played: Zombicide, Splendor, My Little Pony CCG, Xia, and I am struggling to remember what else. We got home at 12:30 am, so Mama_Scaper was obviously ecstatic.

It was a fun time. We're always looking for the opportunity to spend a day playing games.

Besides Xia, we got in three plays of Video Game High School, one game of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (which was a fun, chaotic family game designed by the store owner), and one game of Dark Seas, an interesting little tile-laying efficiency-type game by AEG that involved rolling dice. It supposedly released for Tabletop Day, and I enjoyed it enough to pick up a copy (because I'm a sheep).

Edit: I was extremely disappointed to find out after I got home that the first print run of Xia is completely sold out. Now I'll have to wait before buying my own copy!

Had a good Table Top Day yesterday.

Played:
The Resistance x2 (Won as a spy both times now no trusts me)
Bang the Dice x2 (Won once as an Outlaw)
Sheriff of Nottingham (lost horribly)
Evolution (This was a really intersting game where you are trying to evolve your species through trait cards you can put on the species. My Long Neck eventually evolved into a Carnivore and started eating as much as he could in the end since he was the biggest guy on the table. I really want to play this again since the first couple turns most of us was just feeling the game out.)

While we were playing those games others were playing Small World, Carcassonne, Magic, King of Tokyo. I believe there was 20-25 people at one point and thats a lot for this little shop.

I played a 54mm game with @chas and two other guys. We recreated the 1840s New Zealand war with the British against the Maori natives. The British side gave up after taking some heavy casualties to their front lines.

Three of my gaming buddies went up to Brookfield, Wisconsin (just west of Milwaukee and about 2 1/2 hours away from home in Northwest Indiana) from Friday until today (just got in around 8:30pm) for the Midwest Gaming Classic. It's a convention for video games and pinball machines for the most part for the past 15 years. The hallways and convention rooms were full of arcade and console video games with pinball in several rooms.

Another group of people from our area have been trying to make headway into getting boardgames integrated into the convention. Last year a few people went up and it was a decent start. This year there were 9 of us total demoing games to people at the convention.

We didn't demo on Friday night, but just got situated and were up tile 3am playing:

Great weekend, though cramming 4 of us into one hotel room was a bit tricky. And a couple of my buddies are pretty loud snorers.

We went back yesterday for some X-Wing, Abyss, Splendor, and Armada. Abyss is pretty nice. Art work is beautiful and the theme is cool.

EDIT: Forgot we started a learning game of Super Dungeon Explore: Forgotten King. The Ninja Division box has been sitting by the front door for a week, so Cat_Scaper's anticipation had reached a fevered pitch. Admiral Fuzzybottom did not disappoint.
