Re: Public Design Workshop
Interesting. Not familiar with the 1602 version of Ock in particular, but here's my thoughts.
It feels a little redundant to me to have two different 'grab a figure and move em' powers. I'm also not so sure he needs +2 attack from Grip of the Octopus... he'll often be slinging 6 attack dice, since he has such an easy time getting height, and 8 dice is usually reserved for real heavy-hitters. (Plus he has a really strong ability to cut through defense in Oil Spew) That said, the ability to pull a little enemy figure movement twice during his turn does give him an interesting hook... I do like that about the design. Oil Spew is a little on the strong side... -4 from Attack and Defense is more punishing, and we've never subtracted that many dice for a power like this. Really solid first write-up overall! It could use a little streamlining and number-crunching, but it's a fun direction. |

Something like that always makes it clear. And because I rudely forgot to say it, welcome to custom designing. |

C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: Public Design Workshop
NAME = THE OCTOPUS SECRET IDENTITY = VICTOR OCTAVIUS SPECIES = MUTATE UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = MASTERMIND PERSONALITY = ARROGANT SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 6 LIFE = 5 MOVE = 5 RANGE = 2 ATTACK = 5 DEFENSE = 7 POINTS = 425 EXTENSIVE REACH Before moving, you may choose one figure within 5 clear sight spaces of The Octopus. Place the chosen figure on any empty space within one space of its current location. Units targeted by extensive reach do not take leaving engagement attacks. GRIP OF THE OCTOPUS Once per round, after moving, before attacking, you may choose one figure within 2 clear sight spaces of The Octopus. Place the chosen figure on any empty space to The Octopus. If The Octopus attacks the chosen figure this turn, you may add 2 to The Octopus' attack. Units targeted by Grip of the Octopus do not take leaving engagement attacks. OIL SPEW 11 After moving, before attacking, you may choose one figure within 3 clear sight spaces and roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 11 or higher, reduce the chosen figure's Attack and Defense Numbers by four each until after the next time combat dice are rolled for that figure. Bio: Victor Octavius was an Italian baron who was found ill with the plague. He was set to find a cure, so he held Henri Pym's wife captive for him to make a cure. Pym needed the blood of a "witchbreed" in order to make this cure. Norman Osborne told Pym about Peter Parker, also known as the spider. Previous attempts to cure Victor led to a mutation from an octopus. Victor grows tentacles and becomes more agressive in his needs. Pym draws blood from Peter to make this cure. When Pym finishes the serum, Victor believes that he is meant to be in this form and smashes the beaker against the ground. Victor is pent up fighting the Spider and does not notice the giant Henri Pym appearing from the sea. Pym tried to lick up the serum, not wanting it to go to waste, in doing that he made himself giant. Pym got his revenge and crushed Victor under his foot. |

Re: Public Design Workshop
Okay, some more stray thoughts...
Is Mastermind the right class? I’m honestly asking because I don’t know. For context, our Masterminds tend to be guys leading major organizations (Red Skull, Ra’s al Ghul) or dudes who have some big master plan (Riddler, Hush). Does this guy fit into that kind of vibe? I’ll echo what others have said in that having 2 “pull people closer” powers feels a bit redundant. What if (and this is just an idea, feel free to turn it down) Grip Of The Octopus was instead a power that kept people close? Something like this; Quote:
I’ll also echo others in saying that I think -4 is pretty high for Oil Spew. For reference, that’s enough to bring Superman down to regular human levels or to make the Flash completely incapable of Speed Dodging attacks. He basically has a 50% chance to be one of the best attackers in the game, better than Thor or Superman. What if it used a marker, and gave -1 attack, defense, and subtracted some from any D20 rolls that figure made for the rest of the round? (Because that’s a good anti-Spider measure.) |

Re: Public Design Workshop
I wasn't really too sure what class he would be. I sort of based it on how controlling he is. Grip of the Octopus definitely needs some kind of change, maybe we can meet in the middle somehow. Everything you said, but within 2 spaces of The Octopus. I think oil spew should have a chart in a way for the modifier. 1-5 is -1, 6-10 is -2 and so on.

What about something like this?

Re: Public Design Workshop
Just a FYI, -4 to defense is highly unlikely to ever get passed due in part to what Nobody just outlined with completely negating the Flash. Comic art looks pretty awesome for him, if he doesn't already have a mini I hope he gets one at some point. I'd pick it up for sure.
