Re: Thor - Design Phase
hmm ... well his defense should probably be dropped to at least 5 (4 would look too low, though!). But it sounds like more might need to be done to depower him a tad. 450 is a bit too high, IMO, but it's not out of the ballpark.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: Thor - Design Phase
I decided about 6 months ago that double shields was almost broken for any figures over 4 defense. The numbers really start to exponentially climb past four. Automatic shields are better, IMO. Problem is, they're just so "blah".

Re: Thor - Design Phase
Here are Thor's odds with 4 Defense w/ double shields:
2 or more shields - 80% 4 or more shields - 41% 6 or more shields - 11% 8 shields - 1% EDIT: This really seems to be spot on, but 4 defense looks so pathetic on a Thor card. Plus, Wonder Woman would eat him alive. |

Re: Thor - Design Phase
I see Galactus and Beyonder more as "Entities" ... I guess part of it is I see "Diety" as more of a species than a class.
Also ... do we really want to have much synergy with units of that power level? It seems like they should be more stand alone. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: Thor - Design Phase
Got some wording ideas for you...
THUNDER STRIKE Instead of attacking, you may roll the 20-sided die for all figures within 2 spaces of Thor. If you roll 16 or higher, place up to 6 Wound Markers between any of those figure's cards. Thunder Strike may only be used once per game. Reducing the possible damage that attack could do might help reduce the cost a little. Just an idea. MJOLNIR THROW SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 1 + Special. Attack 4. All figures adjacent to Thor are affected by Mjolnir Throw Special Attack. Roll attack dice once for all adjacent figures. Choose a figure to attack within 6 clear line spaces of Thor and attack one additional time. Each figure rolls defense dice separately. Maybe that will help, or at least put you into a new thought process. |

Questions: With THUNDER STRIKE, are you rolling the 20-sided die once for all figures collectively, or once for each figure separately? As it is worded now, it seems unclear. Without the "you may," you could be forced to put Wound Markers on your own figures cards. With MJOLNIR THROW SPECIAL ATTACK, does he need LOS on the non-adjacent figure? |

Re: Thor - Design Phase
I like the double shield defense because it increases variability. It lets him block virtually anything. Thematically, if Thor blocks an attack with his hammer, he's fine. If not, he'll take a hit but he'll still have the ability to continue to battle.
Also, I think that he should be able to throw Mjolnir without hitting friendly figures next to him. I like him as valiant. I would like to see him as "god" or "diety". |

Re: Thor - Playtesting Phase
Okay, how about changing the special attack to this:

Re: Thor - Playtesting Phase
Oh, and no offense taken. Besides, the power was much simpler when I first wrote it - same dice for adjacent and at range, and no movement tied to it.

Re: Thor - Playtesting Phase
I can understand the reasons for each part of the power, which makes it hard to want to remove them, but I don't like it when you have to make that many choices - I choose this special attack; I choose this mode; I roll this many dice; and it has this other effect as well.

Re: Thor - Design Phase
Here's a question ... does he need Shields of Valor? Maybe he works just fine with 8 life and 7 defense (he'd still be tougher than Hulk - and have possibly better offensive potential with his powers). I think he'd be around 400ish and maybe more with his crowd control/range abilities of his special attack.
